So Jeffries didn't have a great chin then.

I'm saying Jeffries didn't have a great chin. You have persuaded me that way whether or not it was your intention. Do you agree?

So was Fitz a below average puncher for a heavyweight?

That's pretty harsh to say about Sharkey considering we have no significant footage of him. Jeffries couldn't ko him in two fights that went 45 rds total. Fitz knocked him out in 2 rounds. To say the least, Fitz who weighed probably in the 160s for that fight hit harder/was a better puncher than a guy who naturally weighed about 220.

If Fitz can hit harder than Jeffries why can't be hit harder than other heavyweights that weigh the same if not a little more. After all, the jump from 220 to 235/240 is practically nothing in terms of punching power.

Sonny , as usual you dont know what you are talking about......

Mike Tyson ko'ed Golata while stoned.........the word Haschisch means Assassin in Arabic because it was used in battle........speed and coke makes you numb to pain while giving you tremendous endurance and confidence and so on and on..................caveman Jeffries straight out of a time machine would get murdered against the top 25 heavies today. Fact.

There is no "fact" in this case. What we know is that Jeffries was considered one of boxings greatest champions for some 80 years. This is a fact. Without any stable film footage it's difficult to assess his skills although from what I do see and can determine he impresses me. Certainly if we took Ali and threw him in the ring with prime Jefffries under circa 1900 conditions in a 25 round fight with 3-4 oz gloves he would have huge difficulty.

Ortiz would get destroyed....an old trainer I spoke with spider mock knew Jeffries...he said Jeffries would break Dempsey's neck in a barroom brawl ..something dempsey was great at..why is it that choyinski, Corbett, fitz, and Sharkey had such high regard for jeffries

I think Ali would crucify Jeffries under any conditions,if a past prime Corbett can out jab him and stay one step ahead for 22rds ,Ali would lacerate him!
If a near 40 years old Fitz could hit him when and where he pleased ,turning his face into raw hamburger, breaking his nose, cutting him above and below both eyes,Ali would reduce his face to a red jelly.

Sure Fitz was within 15-20 of Sharkey but Jeffries had 60 lbs on Fitz and couldn't knock Sharkey out no matter how hard he tried.

Jeff had a good left hook from what I have read. He probably wasn't the biggest puncher but he had heavy hands for sure. Sharkey was known for being tough as Iron. I find it more plausible that Fitz was a superior puncher and could contend with the punch of heavyweights then Jeffries not being able to hit as hard as a middleweight.

Idk about the rest of your post. Never seen prime Jeffries fight for more than 5 minutes of dodgy footage. I already said I don't consider him an atg because he is lacking in resume.
