O'Sullivan is wailing on Quigley, walking him down and ripping uppercuts to his chin. Quigley is throwing light combos while getting steamrolled into a constant reverse cruise. O'Sullivan is spanking the side with big left hooks and then splitting the guard with uppercuts and hammering right hands. Quigley is rocked into the ropes and can do nothing but fire back with a light flurry and sidestep to avoid getting shoved or drilled between the ropes by the juggernaut O'Sullivan.

Machine Quigley does have cheen, gotta hand it to him.

 

The kid's one stoppage loss was a corner retirement after 9.

 

Mercante calls over the physician to look quickly at Quigley.

 

Round 4

O'Sullivan is landing bit uppercuts flat on the underside of the mandible. HUGE uppercuts. Repeated uppercuts. Nonstop uppercuts. Meanwhile there is the occasional defensive light flurry on the body from Quigley, just enough to keep Mercante from stepping in. O'Sullivan bursts through Quigley's guard with hard straight right leads. O'Sullivan rips a high left hook, knocking Quigley's gloves aside, then works the body with meaty shots. Another right hand up top from O'Sullivan. Quigley's nose is busted and he keeps defending himself, but is weakening, flagging. Mercante steps in after one more O'Sullivan combo.

Golovkin vs. O'Sullivan would be fun while it lasted (about this long, best case scenario for Spike) but honestly I think he should aim lower for his big cash-out. Lemieux is the sort of guy he should go after that brings in the bucks and would provide lots of return on investment because I could see them having a fan-fave action-packed trilogy, a`la Ward and Gatti.

 

Actually, you know who Spike ought to consider targeting for a big money showdown back home?

The other Quigley at middleweight...Jason. El Animal. The currently 13-0 (10) amateur star and WSB veteran.
