Possible lineup per Steve Kim: Román González vs. Kal Yafai Juan Francisco Estrada vs. Wisaksel Wangek Naoya Inoue vs. Carlos Cuadras Other participants in the mix in various configurations with, you have to figure at least a few of the above, include: current IBF champ Jerwin Ancajas unbeaten Jamie Conlan, about to challenge Ancajas in November former straw champ Francisco "Chihuas" Rodríguez the winner of Rex Tso vs. Kohei Kono ranked Pinoy countrymen of Ancajas campaigning presently at 115lbs: Brian Viloria, Johnriel Casimero and/or Jonas Sultan. A lot of tasty matchups at this weight. Loeffler might have struck gold with this idea of giving the division a big annual showcase card.
Saw that Tweet of his myself about 10 minutes ago, he said it was merely speculation on his part. But we know HBO wants to do it again, and Estrada/Wangek is next. I would guess if Chocolatito doesn't retire he will fight Cuadras next. Inoue I heard plans on moving up seeing how Gonzalez lost, so he's probably not a option for the 3rd "Super Fly" match.
Okay, now I'm getting sick of seeing poor Chocolatito getting beaten to a pulp, while I'm a genuine fan of SSR and was rooting hard for him, Yafai, not so much, and he's a terrible style clash for Roman, again, and he'll probably lose for the third time in a row. Estrada gets ****ed up by Sor Rungvisai, although stylistically SSR is tailor made for him, I just don't think he can his power. Inoue-Cuadras Holy ****!!! I can't wait for that one, two of my favorite fighters sharing the same ring, so its going to be tough to watch, but I've already made my peace with the fact that Naoya will smash the hell out of him. So I'm just looking forward to being entertained by it.
Yeah that exact lineup was speculation but the fact that HBO is doing another edition of SuperFly in February or March is almost 100% certain from multiple sources.
Mouth watering. Inoue KO Cuadras. Rungvisai either KO Estrada or got schooled. Hopefully Gonzales manage to escape unhurt. Which card do you think will be the main event?
Alex Iwamatsu reports that Chocolatito is targeting Khalid Yafai (or Sho Ishida should the young Japanese beanpole score the upset in a few weeks on the Joshua vs. Pulev card) and that Naoya Inoue, pending a tuneup in December not blowing up in his face, will be looking to unify with Ancajas next year at SuperFly II, provided the Filipino holds up his end of the bargain and beats Conlan!
Alex Iwamatsu reports that indeed Chocolatito is targeting Khalid Yafai (or Sho Ishida should the young Japanese beanpole score the upset in a few weeks on the Joshua vs. Pulev card) and that Naoya Inoue, pending a tuneup in December not blowing up in his face, will be looking to unify with Ancajas next year at SuperFly II, provided the Filipino holds up his end of the bargain and beats Conlan!
So it might be Cuadras that gets frozen out, if Chocolatito is able to parlay his pre-Wangek hype into a crack at Yafai/Ishida, and Inoue has on horseblinders for Ancajas/Conlan. Wangek and Estrada have slightly more A-side power at the moment than Cuadras does so we most likely would see them facing each other in those remaining two slots on the bracket rather than either throwing him a charity rematch. Poor little Principe.
Why is he so intent on moving up? I know fellow countryman, Yamanaka is up at bantamweight there but even with Golzalez seemingly on the slide, there still so many exciting matchups for Inque at Super fly. Is he having trouble making weight?
That's the story I heard, it basically said with Gonzalez no longer a option due to B2B defeats there is nothing to keep him in the division, and he's already having problems making weight. So he don't want to have to drain himself if the Chocolatito/Monster superfight is not in the cards.
