Canelo's not protected in the traditional sense... He's just given ridiculously wide scorecards before the opening bell.

    No way : wilder anyone

As for being protected from losing this was first fight I thought he lost. So no.
Yeah the draw card against Floyd was bad, and Lara ran him close. But I can't agree with post

Canelo has the judges blessing but in every other area he's good to watch. ODLH has a lot of control over his career and we see bad fights like Khan because it gets ODLH paid. But he still ends up facing tough fighters eventually and he's a very clean fighter inside the ring who doesn't rely on fouling to give him an edge.

Fights Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Erislandy Lara, Austin Trout, and moves up in weight to fight Gennady Golovkin. Tack on additional scraps with Kirkland, Angulo, Chavez Jr, Mosley, Cintron, and several more former titlists, all by just a couple months after his 27th birthday.

    "Protected," they say. Ha.

Protected fighter doesn't have a resume as good as Canelo.
I wouldn't say he doesn't receive star treatment.
But with a nation and promotional giant backing, it is understandable.

He's not protected so much as favoured on the judges scorecards. It's a "thing" by now, we were all predicting dodgy scorecards in Canelo's favour before the fight and ta-dah! we got them.
