That's not the point... people here and in the press made 49-0 (which is the Heavyweight record) some sort of ultimate all time boxing record, just to big up Floydypants. So suddenly it (or 50-0 now) has become some sort of mark. The actual record is far beyond that and it's now just fun to call every obscure boxer nearing, tying or passing that mark "TBE", just to highlight how ridiculous it actually is.
It's still fairly impressive even if about twenty people have reached or exceeded that mark. It's just not as impressive as having the all time record. You do need a certain level of skill to do it, even if you are protected and largely crushing cans. I was looking up all the guys who did it and I hadn't even heard of Nino la Rocca "The Italian Ali." I watched a fight of his on youtube and I'm like "Damn, the dude does move like Ali. He's got blazing handspeed, lightning reflexes, and great constant movement with his footwork." He sort of reminded me of other super fast slicksters like Ray Leonard, Amir Khan, and Naseem Hamed too. He looked really good and I wondered why I'd never heard of him. Turns out, he never got a title. When he stepped up, Donald Curry turned his lights out. Yori Boy Campas was supposed to be the second coming of Julio Cesar Chavez too before Felix Trinidad derailed that hype train.
Of course it's pretty damn good, but the number itself doesn't really say much about the quality of the fighter in general. Do you know for example that the Alabama Heavyweight KO and unbeaten record is 41-0, 41KO's from Don "Man Of" Steele (who in his entire career had only 3 wins over guys with winning records), before he got KO'd in 2 by 38-0 "Super" Brian Nielsen, who himself went 49-0 before getting upset by Dіcky "Raging Bull" Ryan? Valuev went 46-0, Holmes 48-0, Foreman 40-0, and there have been many others that would fit inside your list. Which means that; 1) Wilder does not even have the Alabama HW KO in a row record. 41 by bumbasher Steele 2) Wilder does not even have the Alabama HW wins in a row record. 41 also by Steele of course. 3) Brian Nielsen has tied the (49-0) HW record. 4) You don't have to be particularly good to beat those records, just keep on cherrypicking until you do.
