With a 2-0 pro record at light heavyweight both contests won on points I doubt this guy poses much of a threat, Michael Sprott and a few other heavy weights turned down the offer to fight Toney.
How can this be sanctioned? I don't want to interfere with someone's ability to earn a living but I can't understand the any words that coming out from Toney's mouth. The way he slurs his speech..he might end up brain dead if this keep going.
He's in his physical prime - where as Toney is shot to ****ing **** at nearly 50 and a fat tub of ****. This guy has amateur pedigree. He'll work Toney over, fortunately he probably lacks the power to cause anymore damage.
I have to say I disagree , I am not doubting Toney is well past his prime but I still believe he will have enough left to stop Pomphrey, there will be a massive difference in punching power, as soon as Toney lands flush this kid is in trouble.
Toney couldn't even stop Mike Sheppard legitimately. He's shot to bits. This kid is guaranteed to dance circles around him pot shot his way to an easy win.
It amazes me that he can still function apart from the slurring speech. But there's a thin line - even if he stopped a couple of years ago he may have been destined to end up like Jerry Quarry and his bros due to all the damage he absorbed already.
Toney needs to be saved from himself. How he can keep getting licensed to fight despite his obvious brain damage is beyond me.
Its not even on boxrec so its possibly down as an exhibition bout, the same promoter had 40yr old Jeff Lacy over last October and he lost by TKO after withdrawing in the fifth.
He's probably been trying to tell people he's retired for the last year and a half, but nobody can understand the words. Kinda like Boomhauer from King of the Hill.
After watching the kid fight I see what you're saying but it only takes one punch. Toney is 49 and probably has the wear and tear of a 79 year old brain to say the least. Is this his retirement fight??? When will this end??
