With Matchroom pushing Davis anything is possible , putting him back in to beat up a non puncher to try and get some credibility back is great but I think the deficiencies that Taylor exposed will take a lot of work to correct.
The trash talking is so people watch him and know of him, which is working. He gets his money of you, public:Thats what his aim is,same with Haye/Bellew.Sometimes i think boxing fans underrestimate their power,if no one goes to the o2 for haye/bellew or fans decide not to buy ppvs and encourage everyone as a protest for many too many ppvs, they will stop doing it.But as we know fans like to believe its all real and genuine, while all we are doing is securing their familes and their lives, and they give us 36minutes or less entertainment in return.
OD looks great against weaker opponents who he can bully, put pressure on him and he ain't that great. Plus the fake mayweather act is fooling no one.
Hmm, he'll never reach world level. When Farrell was able to nullify OD's right hand he didn't really have much success as he doesn't have the technical ability or ring IQ to do other things. Him being unorthodox is as much about poor technique and weirdly long arms as it is anything else. He does seem to have decent power at domestic level which will get him so far. He is capable of improving, of course but he doesn't look like a natural boxer at all and I don't believe he is a hungry enough individual to put the work in required to really elevate himself beyond where he is now.
When i say he was still in the fight, i meant by way of stoppage. He was getting totaly outclassed for sure but there were times when he was catching taylor and taylor for a second or 2 wasnt replying. It was a long shot but i do still think he had a chance, he had more chance a few rfs in than farrell had on sat night.
He’s not the first fighter to make up for a lack of technical ability with an abundance of power. I think Hearn will be careful how he matches him up now, he won’t be thrown in with any big punchers so he can learn on the job, pad his record out and look like a killer for a future big payday, cos he can certainly sell a fight.
When he was chatting back stage with Taylor present after the fight he sounded like a mongol ! Taylor even said after"Yeah hes a bit of a twat"... Came across like someone I be happy to see lose everytime and laugh !
He's a good fighter unorthodox and can wallop, but this game is about levels... Taylor is levels and levels above.
OD was schooled against Taylor... Farrell and Taylor are not even close to being in the same league... Its like Manchester united losing to Barcelona then pummelling Accrington Stanley
