i totally agreee but you give an exemple where the swarmer manage to land a little more...but what if the punch landed is really pretty much equal...i think in that case defense should settle the tie.

Agreed....but I'm not saying you should or would get points for evading - I'm saying your opponent *isn't* getting points because he *isn't* hitting you.

So as long as you are actually hitting him then you win on points.

DICTATING ACTION MEANS NOTHING. It doesn't matter whether or not there's action.

The one guy taking a step forward and jabbing? May as well have not done anything. That is still a 10-10 round. The fact that he "dictated" a moment of action is 100% meaningless if he didn't walk all the way over to his opponent's corner and land a punch. Hell, even if he walked over and threw a punch in range, and it was blocked or dodged (or even 50 punches, all blocked or dodged), the sum total of punches landed between them is still 0. Hence, that is STILL a 10-10 round. The one guy trying doesn't get credit for just trying. You don't get ANY credit in boxing for simply being aggressive. Sorry.

 

I think its a mix of both punches landed and percentage. For example if fighter A lands 46/100 punches but fighter B lands 85/200, fighter B has a lower percentage but not by much while doubling in quantity therefore he wins. if Fighter A lands 46/100 and fighter B 60/200 thats where there can be a case for fighter A winning.
