It's difficult to argue against any decision that is taken in the interests of cleaning up the sport.

However, I believe that Wilder has been coddled for too long. He's almost forty fights deep and he still hasn't faced anyone with a pulse.

Personally I would have been happy for this fight to go ahead.

On paper, you'd have to say that Wilder had a good chance of beating Ortiz. But maybe Luis needs to "mature" a few more years ...

If they're looking for consistency then Stiverne should be pulled too, the guy failed a test of his own not that long ago.

I can't see whatever one eyed drivel he's come up with now but I'm somewhat amazed he still has anyone on these boards who'll engage with him.

WBC did the right thing even though they have wide discretion to make a ruling. It's amusing to see people give Ortiz the benefit of the doubt. Honestly he didn't want the fight bad enough like he was pretending to be or he'd have had his **** together. As for Wilder he'll press on, the best thing he can do is to keep knocking out anybody put in front of him. Also start putting in clauses in the contract to get reimbursed when these drug cheats get popped.

I Agree completely. if he needed them from the doc's they should declare it before signing a contract or at least know whats in them

He tested positive for a common over-the-counter blood pressure medication prescribed by a doctor, clearly not steroids or even a masking agent. The WBC should've just fined a portion of Ortiz's purse and let the fight go on.

Don't bother engaging. It's his ancient "Corrie Sanders was a 38 year old bum and he beat Wlad" stew that he's recycled with a dash of Ortiz spices. But at the end of the day it's still medieval glop that looks like it's been made from dehydrated dog turds and boiling water.

"The results were returned on Thursday, and Ortiz's "A" sample tested positive for the banned diuretics chlorothiazide and hydrochlorothiazide, which are used to treat high blood pressure but also can be used as masking agents for performance-enhancing drug use." http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...-fails-drug-test-bout-deontay-wilder-canceled

What are you talking about? Your revisionist history that's not even a week old isn't going to work.

You're not posting anything we aren't already aware of. The positive test came from the BP meds he was prescribed by a doctor. All other markers on his test that would indicate AAS use like T/E ratio among other came back normal. There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest he was using a masking agent. Is it his fault for not disclosing? Yes. But let's not pretend that this is a PEDs issue, it's simply an issue of not turning in the right paperwork. Even the founder of VADA, Victor Conte, has come out on social media explaining in depth how Ortiz's team just a mistake and under such circumstances the fight should go on.

That video is just fake news and you choose to believe some silly conspiracy narrative that VADA doesn't know what they are doing. Facts remain that Ortiz popped dirty and has to suffer the consequences of that.

Having any sort of dialogue with Blackclouds regarding Wilder or any other fighter he fanboys over is utterly pointless. Don't even bother.

No VADA did their job. It was up to the WBC to weigh the circumstances and make a good decision but they made a rushed, poor choice. It's made all the worse by them putting in Stiverne who already had a recent drugs test failure.

This is Ortiz fault...not Wilder. WBC is just following the rules.
