Yeah. Virgin will be a different story tho. Just gonna leave it tbh don't understand why it can't be shown on IT4 .. it's a 3am job anyway
fair i have sky so i will just record it and watch it next day, gonna watch cambell linares live instead.
Sat on ITV Box Office at 2200hrs WBC Cruiserweight title: Mairis Briedis v Mike Perez For those with a Sky box its on (ch 493)
From what I have watched of the Super Series I have enjoyed it. However when you look at this weekend's card, the prospect of paying for Eubank Jr vs Yildirim card does not appeal too much, given the Sky card. Most of the fights are clashing with others, and the undergrads have lacked strength so far. I do like the concept but really cannot see this series will have captured the imaginations of many? Especially in such a competitive market.
I think to capture huge audiences it needed to be free to air, then build it up and then have option of putting final on ppv.
ITV are ******ed, they should have created a dedicated sports channel for all sports they show. You have WBSS lost in the late hours on their box office channel. Non boxing fans will never stumble on that content. However if there was an ITV sports channel, casual sports fans and channel hoppers would definitely flick on and probably tune in. I don't watch much TV these days so I have no idea how heavily they have advertised the boxing.
One thing I do quite like is that it's available next day on demand. Been useful for if I've been out and missed a fight. I really don't know why they only have Ronald on commentary on his own though. He sounds like a mentalist. Beyond that, the production is quality and I'm very much pro Jimmy Lennon Jr. But it's the fights which count and on paper (and pretty much in general) it's delivered so far. I think this weekend will be much the same. The PPV angle is stupid and pointless but whatever, I don't pay
there must be some rich idiot at itv who's being paid a lot and knows nothing about boxing that's done this it really pisses me off how boxing on terrestrial in the past 20 years has been so poor
It is a shame the series does not have the backing of matchroom or Boxnation because I do think the undercards have lacked something.
Every fight should be on ITV 4 apart from potential Eubank Vs Groves or Groves/Eubank vs Smith those of which are PPV imo. Groves vs Cox and Eubank vs Yildirim on ppv isn't great, If you're going to charge why not £9.99 gets you both of those fights, if that was the case I would actually pay that but I'm not forking out for two OK fights back to back.
Between September and the end of the year, could easily have done £100 in PPVs. Saw an interview with Frank Warren yesterday saying he aims to have 3 or 4 next year. The amount atm is a joke a cross all channels
Just so I'm clear is the plan to have the Eubank Jr fight on PPV this weekend then Groves v Cox on PPV next weekend? If so, that's demented
Would not be surprised to find 4 PPVs per month across all channels coming soon. History in the UK shows that the PPV concept eventually eats itself when the public get rogered once too often. It only takes a couple of Khan v McCloskey or Haye v Fraudley fights for the penny to eventually drop for the mugs.
