Billy Conn of the first Louis fight against, three come forward punchers. Prime versions of: Rocky Marciano,Joe Frazier,& Mike Tyson.15rds Could Conn win any of these? Would he?
Tyson would be far too big and had the hand speed of a light heavy, Conn would stand a better chance against the other two because they weren`t as good at throwing combo`s as Mike, he and Louis were great combo punchers. I feel Marciano and Frazier would apply to much pressure and throw too many punches for the smaller Conn but he would do a lot better against Frazier than Foster if he didn`t stand in front of Joe the way he did with Louis at times. Foster couldn`t move defensively as good as Conn nor as quick.
All 3 stop him. Joe wasnt the kind of pressure fighter these guys were, and wasn't a Top Class ring cutter like them. All have the power to finish him at any time. Tyson stops him early, Marciano stops him by round 8, Frazier finishes him before 15.
Conn's skills would cause all of them problems in the early going but I can't see him keeping them off for 15 rounds. All would beat Billy inside the distance - Tyson early/middle Marciano & Frazier - Middle/late
I agree with all of the above. He'd give them trouble early on but would end up being stopped by all three.
Marcino ko in 2 Fraizer ko in 1 rd Conn wouldn't have left the dressing room to fight Tyson Tyson by fear before the fight.
One thing Conn never lacked was courage, he turned pro without any amateur experience, and fought plenty of tough dudes, often conceding weight.
Once Mike hits Conn he will be intimidated I can see it now once Conn gets hit Damn he hits harder then Joe Louis !!!!!!! lord help me !!!!! .
But Frazier was far more predictable than rocky was, and wasn't as great a two fisted puncher as rocky. Frazier will get him when Conn's legs wear out and (T)KO him. Frazier was also a notorious slow starter.
I'm frankly not convinced Tyson hits any harder than Louis. (He might, but it's far from obvious.) I suspect the bigger difference lies in Tyson's footwork. He'll move in more quickly than Louis, but he'll also be more vulnerable to getting caught and countered. (I don't care what anyone says, Tyson is not the technician Louis is.) On the other hand, Tyson very likely has a better chin than Louis and can afford to eat more punches. I think Conn has a decent chance to survive the early rounds, take potshots from his bicycle all night and squeak out an ugly UD that's booed by the crowd. But of course he might not do all that much better than Ricardo Spain...
Are these fighters on there best night or an off night as Louis was in fight one? Louis at his best also stops Conn early.
