    I'm guessing because Sam Langford could and would beat Bigger Men than him during his era and one of those he fought that was bigger than him was Sam McVey who was similar to Tyson in Height and Weight.
    Skill wise, Tyson is superior. But it was a different fight back then.

    Tyson’s punches would have the the same destructive effect no matter what time period in the past they landed in.

    Difficult to see Sam lasting more than 2 rounds.

    Tyson may not be able to see through all that black and white, so it'll be as if he's wearing a blindfold.

    Especially with those mitts stuffed with horse hair they wore back then. On the other hand, it could have caused Tyson to pull his punches for fear of injuring his hands.
