Christopher Eubank Jr. vs. Avni Yildirim & Stefan Haertel vs. Viktor Polyakov RBR.

Why didn't Canelo and GGG put all of their lead up fights on Free TV, I am sure they would have made more money too, Yeah right!!!!

Who knows 1 of them could lose and you won't get the mega fight any way.

People act like all of ITVs PPVs have flopped but why do they keep doing it?
Maybe they have found a niche in the market, could have been a success.

Groves and Jr are extremely well known in the UK, they don't need a huge build up. The fight sells it self, the presser alone would be electric. You would have a big amount of division with a lot of people adamant their man will win.

Still like I said there are no guarantees

 

Does the UK market hold grudges do they? will they refuse to pay for Groves vs Jr because they were charged for these other ppvs which they didn't pay for any way?

 

The numbers will be embarrassing tonight, trust me, they would have made more with a free to air show and just selling advertisements for a little more money.

I do not know anybody who is buying this fight.

 

Quite enjoying this fight - both fighters well matched, I like the backfoot boxing of Balazay (sp).

 

As much as I would enjoy it if the Proud Turk managed to make mince meat kebab out of Eubanks after what he did to Arthur, sadly I can only see a points victory for Eubanks Jr.

Nevertheless this fight guarantees excitement.

 

its pretty annoying having to pay for fights of this quality, then having to pay more for the main event, groves vs eubank will be on a bigger platform. all in all you are paying over 60squid if eubank goes far in the tournament, if you want to watch all of his fights you are out of pocket by over 100 pound and hes not really worth watching that much. and yildrim is an unknown

 

They won't refuse to pay but they might not know it's happening and I'm talking about the casual fans who fill up most of Wembley for Joshua or buy PPV's like Haye Vs Bellew.

You seem to be ignoring the fact Sky Sports blow ITV out of the water with advertising and promotion.

How many adverts have you seen for tonight's fight?

Because all I have seen is a single advert about 2 days ago.

 

Cox and Yildrim are not PPV worthy, I don't think this needs explaining, really poor decision to put these fights on PPV.
Eubank Jr. - Groves is a great fight though.

 

This undercard is boring as ****. Hopefully the main event is starting soon.

 

I suppose that is a different issue, would people have known the fight was on if it was on free TV anyway, that's if they had the same marketing campaign?

If people don't know the fight is on they wouldn't watch any way.

Basically Eubank wants to be on PPV every fight because of his dad- the only TV broadcaster to entertain this prospect is ITV hence why the whole tournament is on ITV.

I have heard that ITV have paid a relatively low rights fee for the tournament and therefore it probably doesn't matter too much how many buy tonight's fight. It does make you wonder if ITV would make more money putting it on ITV1 with advertising providing a bigger revenue stream.

The plan for ITV is to keep all of Groves/Eubank's fights on PPV barring an upset on the other side of the draw.

If there is another WBSS tournament I imagine it will end up on Sky because it's good, solid content which doesn't require only additional production on site.

 

If it's was on ITV 1, free to air, the audience would be large almost by default.

All they needed was Adverts during the week, prime time and people will tune in, there are plenty of people out there who would happily watch a fight on a Saturday night.

But you throw Jr is with a unknown foreign fighter and ask casual fans or families to pay £10 and you are going to get a blank.

If they put it on free to air they could had picked up a few fans, more interest and created a buzz for Groves and then people might give it a second thought.

 

Wow, the last thing I want to hear right now is Amir Khan's disjointed rambling opinions about the heavyweight scene. Yet here we are, with both in full apologist mode for Tyson Fury. Cute.

 

It's a 10er for this week and next week, how does that leave you 100 out of pocket? 25 for the last potential 3 in 168 division?
