He was most likely a victim of vigilante justice inside the prison

He was on his way anyway. Would have ended up at the top in the end i think. Weather he,d beat the elite or nots up for debate. I think he,d probably fall short...but maybe would have came back better for a defeat. Was developing well tho. Sure his last fight was antonio corley...who knocked out linares the year later. Valero stopped him in the ninth.

Just a totally tragic ending. More so for his wife and kids. Pretty sure he had some kind of accident that caused brain trauma early in his career. Always puts a questionmark...over weather his latter course of action was maybe affected by it or he really was just a disgusting human being.

I never thought this guy was truly great.

I always thought he was GOOD though. Had potential, but to me it seemed like he could be out boxed and counter punched. I think Pac would have destroyed him. Pac in his prime had way more speed, and good power. Valero himself wasn't a counter puncher, so it would be easy work for Pac. (Pac really only suffered against guys who had good skills and could counter like Marquez and Mayweather)

Also I just never really liked the guy as a person, but this is an honest opinion disregarding that. But as other said, he was really an animal, both in the ring and as a "person".

Guys with blown up knockout records are a dime a dozen in boxing. If people are impressed by Valero's knockout record, they could check out the likes of Carlos Zarate or Ruben Olivares.

Anyway, Valero could punch, but that's hardly some unique or rare attribute in boxing.

Valero was pretty legit though, he was developing into quite a fighter. I often wonder how much the blood clot and damage from the motorcycle accident is what lead to his violent behavior getting worse as he kept fighting.

Brain injuries are some serious ****, and he wasn't cleared to fight in the US for a DAMN good reason, and he took some serious shots his last few fights that would have aggravated that original injury.

He should have never been allowed in a ring anywhere to be honest.

Many people forget that Antonio DeMarco was beating him on points when DeMarco inexplicably quit on his stool. What's weird is that DeMarco wasn't getting beaten like a rag doll when he quit. Something never seemed quite right with that stoppage.
