David Lemieux vs Hugo Centeno jr possible for Dec 16

    Who do you have if this fight is made ?

    So, apparently Lemieux's manager rejected a co-main event spot on the Cotto vs Sadam Ali card

    They want David as main event, and HBO said they can give him the 16 Dec spot. Two names that are floating around are Hugo Centeno jr and James Kirkland.
    Kirkland has been inactive since his 2015 fight with Canelo so I doubt HBO will approve him.

    For now it appers that David Lemieux doenst want to travel to UK to fight BJS

    Good Lord above please no more Kirkland.

    Centeno is a good fight, alot better than Kirkland.

    Yea Kirkland would be rusty af ...and sporting a glass jaw. That would be too easy for David.
    The Centeno fight actually would be pretty good.

    If he could, he would be better off fighting Saunders, but I have a feeling DL uses means that are a bit hazy and illegal to make the weight and to recover from weight cut. Fighting abroad would mean he would have to do without hazy supplements as is the case with several fighters who refuse to fight out of their home town or in a particular state. That said, Centeno vs. DL would be very entertaining fight as long as it last.

    High Risk low reward, don't really see the point of fighting Hugo. Lemiuex would be better off with an easier fight in Canada. If Lemiuex was smart he'd leave GBP if he isn't promised a canelo fight

    HBO usually pushes for competitive fights, or at least they try too.
    So if Lemieux wants to be main event he has to get someone thats worth HBO's investement in such an event. If he wants to fight a no-hoper he can stay as Cotto's co-main.

    After his last fight if I was his handlers I'd put him in Canada, at least he can sell a couple grand of tickets vs a no hope in Canada. Lemiuex may very well lose to Hugo

    Yes he can lose, but still, he'd be favourite, not to mention this fight, if signed, will be held in Canada, according to that article. He had an easy opponent last May also, so maybe HBO wanted him to step up a notch
    I think Lemmy ko's Centeno and tbh I'm dissapointed he didnt go for the WBO belt. He did have hand and shoulder surgery after his last fight though and he's still young at 28 yo

    This could be a good fight. Centeno looked good last time out stopping Aleem.

    If he doesn't get stopped early he could make this an interesting fight once the fight hits the middle rounds.

    An active Kirkland vs Lemieux would have been a terrific shoot out. This current verison of Kirkland ( 1 fight, 3 rounds the last 4 years) would be a waste of time.

    Centeno is a good, fun fight for him. The Boss has bounced back well from the Sulecki disaster.

    I'd rather not see Kirkland get KTFO'd again.

    Why doesn't Saunders fight Lemiuex in Canada he will get paid alot more then if the fight was in UK because Saunder doesn't have a fan base and it's Frank not hearn Frank can't sell anything Saunders doesn't want that fight

    Fight doesn't make sense for Centeno Jr. He just got knocked out against Sulecki. Lemieux is going to knock him out in 3 rounds.
