I think it would be the opposite. He might get the rare opportunity to compete while already inducted. His ego is probably big enough that he orchestrated this on purpose just to hear Michael Buffer introduce him to a roaring crowd just losing their minds for him as "...the former three-time world heavyweight champion, and now a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame..."

Yeah, it would be good. And if he won it would validate the Hall of Fame and probably be the best win of his career somehow.

I would in hindsight agree that Vitali getting in on first ballot was justified with a Joshua win, although ironically that would IMO be the primary argument on behalf of his inclusion and so it would be kind of weird for him to get voted in before even setting foot in the ring to essentially cash a blank check the fans wrote out for him.

I'm going to go with the below in the order I'd put them in.

    Calderon

    Curry

    Morales

    Hatton

    Klitschko

So if everybody voted like you we end up with Iron Boy, Lone Star Cobra, and El Terrible - which I'd be very happy with if that ended up being who got in.

Unfortunately people tend to disappoint me IB. As the quote from Peep Show says "People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people."

The thing about Vitali is he missed 4 years of his Prime came back and took His old belt back via a quittage victory with no tuneup and then didn’t lose again while hardly losing a single round. Had he not lost those 4 years his resume would likely be far better. Agree that his worth is his H2H status. He would be a hard out for anyone in division history due to his height, awkward lean back style, and Chin.

I didn't know Donald Curry wasn't in the HOF, I just assumed he was, that has really surprised me.

Those kickboxing years really did cause some injuries for him down the road and robbed him of his boxing years.
But on the flip side, his awkwardness and style came from his kickboxing background which made him a unique fighter.

I think Donald should get in eventually. There are a few guys who might make it in before him, so that gets in Donald's way. But his potential and some of his wins like Starling and McCrory and Rosi. 8 title defenses at welterweight also. I have studied his career a little and like some I think his amount of amateur fights caught up to him. He looked like a young fighter in 1985, but he might have been more shopworn than we thought then. He slowed down just enough to get hit more and Donald was so great when he could counter and not get hit in his style where he was in range to counter, but once he slowed a little he had a hard time preventing the shots from hitting him. Maybe he also believed how dominant he was with Milton since right after that he had a fight in early 1986 on national TV and he struggled a little but knocked the guy out in I think 3.. Then he had Lloyd in Sept of 1986 and after that he was flawed a little and hit more. The headbutts started with Montgomery and Santos and then McCallum just sped his downfall a little. He was never a top guy after Mike. It is time for Donald to get in when some guys who got in the last few years were not as good as Donald. And Donald getting in would give him a certain respect he has not received the last few years. Most guys who get in we already think about them. Donald has been forgotten and it will give his legacy a little lift.

I think it will probably be that as well. I'm not sure if Hatton should make it over Calderon, but Hatton is fairly popular in them parts. Or at least he was when I was there.

He probably doesn't. He lost his 2 biggest fights as well. But all that said, I think he is a shoe-in.

Arguably his only 2 "big" fights. But you're right, I don't see him getting left out this year...which means someone (IMO) more deserving will be frozen out. Likely another heartbreak for Curry fans, and who knows, this could be the straw that breaks the camel's back and sees him subsequently removed from the ballot altogether. :ohno

Fernando, Winky, Genaro, Ivan and Julian. Honestly, there's about 15 that
are pretty deservedly ready to be added. If asked the same question tomorrow
    I'd answer differently.

Hmm first nod I've seen given to el Feroz. What elevates him IYO?

The consensus is usually that he was a h2h beast in the salad days but got pushed too fast and ruined early before he could build a really great legacy. He does have some good wins but I'm not sure he quite has enough to be first ballot.
