Probably the worst case of cutting weight I've seen, unsurprisingly he lost a decision but he and his team put his life at risk.

Something needs to be done about weight cutting in combat sports before it becomes too late!

Damn! And prior day weighins were to make in less dangerous for the fighters. On paper of course.
Result: draining down to a even lower weightclass, stressing and damaging their body even more and have 24 hours extra to get reanimated from stumbling corpse to walking corpse.

Might earn them a guest part on Walking Dead though

Kevin Lee had a staph infection and a terrible weight cut... Yet still fought at last weekends UFC(This was the main event for the PPV) - lost via submission in the 3rd round. Actually started out pretty well and arguably took the first two frames. Bet the UFC payed him good not to pull out.

Most effective diuretics are banned today (due to their masking capabilities), this robbed boxers of a healthy rapid draining method. Draining the slow way increases the period of dehydration of the organs, giving boxers a much harder time making weight

a lot of these guys were wrestlers in high school and college. They've been cutting weight for most of their life.... Sure some do it wisely and it doesn't have an ill effect on their health - but many put their bodies through hell year after year.... More recently a lot have fighters have just said to hell with weight cutting and just compete at walk around weight. The 170 lb(Welterweight in MMA) division is full of former long time 155 lb(Lightweight in MMA) a lot of them are having great success too! because the massive cut had a negative impact on their performance. Anthony "Rumble" Johnson used to cut 40-50 lbs to make the welterweight limit! Crazy that the guy is one of the biggest punchers in the game and a top 5 fighter at 205(Light-Heavyweight in MMA) and is now thinking about moving up to heavyweight.

It took missing weight several times and putting his body through complete hell for YEARS before he finally grew wise and moved up in weight.... Stubborn wrestlers mentality I suppose.

The fight should be called off if he can't walk top the scales, i also have to question the guy holding him up on the scale for all we know he was taking some of the fighters weight, could be another version of the DC Towel trick.

This is probably the best case of when an IV should've been used, let alone 750ml of it. Lol.

Amazing!!! No commission should've even allowed him to fight. I'm certain
this fight took years off his life.

The female mma fighter is it Cyborg ? Fights in the UFC anyway. Seen her cutting weight and it didn't make for good viewing. Crying, delirious and mentally physically ****ed ! Really extreme to what I thought, I remember Eubank snr saying to make weight he just wouldn't eat for days ! Mental what some go through to get an advantage !

I'm honestly surprised we don't see more deaths from weight draining. I used to wrestle, and it seemed like every year a couple people would die directly from it.

MMA weight cutting seems to be way worse than boxing. I guess that's down to there being less weight classes so there is less room for manoeuvre.

rapid dehydration is harmless, You can drop 10-20 lbs (depending on fighting weight) in a very short period, as long as you maintain a very low fat % & your bowels are cleansed prior to the draining (to reduce the % of toxins once dehydrated).

No boxer should be putting any fat % between fights to begin with, because it will increase toxins level when the body is forced to starve (then drain)

    Unhealthy Draining practices:
    - Consuming any food during the draining
    - Leaving the bowel full of Toxins prior to draining
    - Starting the draining with a high fat %, fat increases toxins % when dehydrated
    - Lack of commitment to the draining -continuing to drink water or soaking in water- by effect prolonging the draining process & putting pressure on all body organs that need to be re-hydrated asap

The draining should be as fast as possible -using the best diuretics you can get away with using- & only few hours prior to the weigh in, not the primitive spit in the bottle BS wrestlers do in High school

Those ufc ***s just want to be the coolest so they go for extremly unnecessary weight drains so they can impress 13 year old boys at their all acces.
Ridiculous.... This boy was nowhere close 8% body fat. A body fat that you can approach with proper dieting without beeing to weak and definitely strong enough to go on a scale without guys holding you up.

I think referees and judges should have to make weight too. The fighters, refs, and judges should all campaign in the same weight division. So you'd have flyweight refs and judges working flyweight fights, bantamweights working bantamweight ones, super-bantams working super-bantam fights and so on and on. And as with the fighters they're free to move up or down to campaign in higher or lower divisions too if they want.

''Jack Reiss has announced that he'll be moving down to 175 next year''

    or

''Did you hear Adalaide Byrd is moving up to 147 for the Thurman vs Spence fight?''

I think this is definitely the next logical step to make, IMO.
