Jones replaces Ezzard Charles and Bob Foster. I think both could stop Jones, but Jones would dazzle with his speed at first. He'd definitely last longer than Foster because he's a lot more quicker and mobile and you can't KO what you can't hit. I don't think Jones beats either, but he'd make things difficult for a while. Thoughts?

The pressure off Frazier would scare the **** out of Jones, he would be running straight off and Rocky damages him too..He was lucky it was Ruiz who was champ

Roy's speed would keep him in it for a while but by the middle rnds Frazier and the rock would wreck him.

In the post fight interview of the Jones/Hall fight, Jones discussed fighting Lennox Lewis.

Frazier and Marciano are the two Heavyweight Champions who seriously beat the **** out of their opponants. Jones gets cornered and destroyed quickly. Good thread though!

Frazier destroys him. Rock's slow feet make it a bit of a longer contest with Jones, some rounds where the Rock looks foolish. But the end would arrive all the same.

The cornering him is the issue. Jones wasn't easy to corner.

I think it would not matter. Every time Jones breathed he would smell their breathe. Their power would be too much. Frazier said against Foster that a heavyweight is built to take a big mans punch but when a smaller man gets hit with it..,..watch out. These guys would be on Jones like paste and throwing so many hard shots Jones would be forced to fight or cut bait. One he is nailed to the body and head by either he is crushed.

Until we saw him beat nobody thought Roy could be beat. He was making it into ATG lists while he was active.

    disagree.

Not everyone thought the guy could not be beat. Just the HBO announcers.

I agree with this, although I'm not exactly sure how long his speed would adequately keep him away.

I sure don't see Jones handling the bodywork these guys put in. And Jones is going to have an extremely tough time trying to tie these guys up on the inside. It might only take 20 or 25 body shots and I think Roy's legs are gone. Then what?

And both walk through Jones' punches. He loved operating out of that comfy zone of his and just playing the feint and pose game on the outside after getting a guy's respect. But Joe and Rocky are hardly easy to discourage opponents. Instead, Jones would be forced to work 3 or 4x his normal workrate for a 3 minute round & these 2 opponents get stronger as the fight goes on.

Academic what happens & the only question becomes if he'd beat a 30 count or not.
