The voice of boxing Jim Lampley signs a multi deal for HBO!

They need to reunite the Lampley-Foreman-Merchant dream team.

 

I miss Merchant. He called fights boring when they were and got excited when they were great fights. Yeah he sounded like a drunk as of late but I appreciated his candor, which probably lost him his job. He wasn't afraid to correct the other announcers.

 

Announcers can be past prime just like boxers and HBO has two of them in Lampley and Buffer. Lampley at this stage is just a company man who goes right along with all the corruption. I used to hold him in higher regards but he is no different than anyone. Still I do not mind him being around, Lorn knows what abomination they would replace him with like when they showed Merchant the door for that nauseating, little Beastie Boy Kellerman.

 

Bring back Larry Merchant! I don't care if he's 100.... Still better than the current crop of clowns spinning their garbage, at least Merchant told the truth and was interesting to listen to.

 

Lampley is dreadful.

If you're ever curious to see the HBO agenda, just listen to ol' boy Lamps.

Woah woah woah, guys. I hate HBO's crew top to bottom as much as the next guy. But lets not try to act like Larry Merchant should be brought back from pasture.

Screw Jim Lampley. As soon as Tyson Fury dethroned Klitschko you could tell he was seething and right away he was mentioning his out of the ring stuff. He's probably 'in the club' like all these millionaire suit wearing lizards

 

Larry Merchant was not drunk. He was old. He was with HBO for 35 years, and they wanted to attract a younger demographic so made room for Kellerman.

He was also boxing's poet laureate. "Boxing is the theater of the unexpected," was one of his great lines, among many.

 

I don't get this utter hate for Max Kellerman.
I get it that now that he's with the main crew at HBO he's become agenda driven like the rest of them, but I don't mind listenting to him because he knows boxing and boxing history.

 

He's the most biased and racist commentator in boxing now. He hates white people.

 

Give me examples?

 

Guy has done a great job at filling the void Dinovelvet has left in his absence. Log on - bash Golovkin and occasionally other EE fighters, maybe the occasional jab at HBO. Rinse - repeat.

 

Bro, I would take Stephan over Lamepley at this point. I just want a guy who can accurately call a fight and not push agenda. Stop getting your panties in a bunch over Jim. He's been trash for years and the whole commentary presentation is awful and you know it. Just stop. Stephon's fake crying is better btw
