I love how these turds just leave out the fact that Vitali took the fight on 2 weeks notice too. It’s obvious many of them weren’t even watching the sport then.

I like Vitali but what is your point? Lewis had 2 weeks to prepare for Vitali also. They were supposed to fight on the same card, Lewis was supposed to fight Kirk Johnson, completely different style too

Vitali had 2 weeks notice for that fight and would have knocked Lewis out in the very next round. Vitali was ahead on the cards in a country that hates Eastern European fighters. Clearly your comprehension is lacking. Vitali didn't hold the option, Universum did. Klaus-Peter Kohl told Byrd he would rematch Vitali when he recovered, Byrd said no thanks I'm not waiting for him.

The Sanders situation was much the same in the sense that Sanders didn't want to rematch Wlad, he broke his contract and dumped the belt to fight Vitali.

Wrong. The contract stated that Byrd would have to fight either brother in the case he won the fight.
He was told to fight Wlad because Vitali didn't want any of it. It wasn't his decision to make , he complained he was forced to wait for Wlad while he fought Bostice and Barret , while he was not allowed to have any stay busy fight.

If Vitali wanted to fight Byrd he would have allowed him to make a voluntary defense and then fought him when he was ready.
But he was ready at the same time as Wlad when he fought Hoffman. He fought Hoffman because he didn't want Byrd to make a fool out of him a second time.

Byrd beat Vitali -April 2000
Vitali fought Hoffman - November 2000

Wlad fought Byrd - October 2000.

Vitali ducked the rematch. Same as how Wlad ducked the Sanders rematch and ducked the Brewster rematch by going the IBF route instead of attempting to regain his WBO belt.
