Looking like this will be the case. Not a bad fight, but Spence should be a little more active. Hopefully this leads to Thurman
Why next year? Geez...i bet his next fight after that will be Dec 2018 vs Jessie Vargas or something like that.
Not a fan of this fight at all and Spence is my fav fighter at WW, disappointment its not garcia or porter, or even jeff horn unification, hell even amir khan would have been a good fight, common opponent in brook etc. But i guess its ok if they couldn't make those fights, shame thurman is out, that's the fight we all wanted and i believe it would have happened if Thurman was healthy.
After the Brook fight I was excited to see Spence kick on and take the division by the scruff of the neck. This would have been a decent stay busy fight for October/November but it's a bit meh now. Even though Brook took a beating it looks like he'll be back before Spence. At least there's something in January which is usually a dry month for boxing.
Opposition wise, he was brough along perfectly. He fought the right opponents and gradually stepped up. But only two fights in 16 and one in 17?
OK, that's at least a mild attempt at making a point. Why do you think he has an "awful" management team? Hes 27, a world champion in 22 fights. Hes taken on good competition. Would it be nice to see him more active, yes, I don't see how he has "awful" management though, when you compare him to other 2012 Olympians.
The welter weight division hoping Peterson pulls the upset. If matthysse stopped Pete chances are Monster Spence KO's him as well. I know fights are situational and styles make fights yada yada but will be interesting if Spence can stop Peterson faster than Matthysse. Matthysse might have more one punch power but Spence is better at delivering it I know
