The ones that are supposed to remember him are probably suffering from dementia now, so they don't remember him either.

Oquendo is literally the herpes of the heavyweight division.

Can we just hand Oquendo a toy WWE belt from walmart and tell him it's a world title. I don't think he even cares to defend it at this point.

And he didn't even win that fight lol.

Maybe beating Derric Rossy is the key for immortal mandatory status? Worked for Stiverne, too.

Because he won a court case that legally enforced the WBA to install him as mandatory challenger.

How do people who claim to follow boxing not know that? How many times has it already being stated in this thread?

    God Bless Oquendo.

To hell with the WBA. At what point should we not recognize them? Belts don't bother me one way or the other too too much. I value them much less than most of you.

My thoughts exactly. I had no idea it had been that long til a few weeks ago i looked it up. Man, that is just nuts to be in that much control over ranking when 4 years out. It should be earn your way back in there if anything.

But rest assured, if mr. Slow Fres gets the win and the belt...He'll soon be defending against emeritus Valuev, or maybe just maybe Kevin Johnson will get the safety pin call. Or hell, John Ruiz where is the damn quiet man?!? I miss that friggin NUTCASE stoney in his corner. My god that guy made me laugh so hard.

Oquendo won a court case that legally enforced the WBA to install him as mandatory challenger. It is that simple. Though some here are too simple to comprehend it.

I wonder if the WBA offered Oquendo a million dollars, if he'd then just **** off. This is clearly about money so just pay the man and move on.

Actually a half mil offer would prob be good enough.

Agree. Basically, this is all a result of holding a title fight in Grozny. The WBA brought this on themselves by allowing such a suspect environment to host a title fight. Oquendo has had some tough calls in the past, such as the Byrd fight, so if he gets a break here I'm ok with it. This is a legal situation that needs to be dealt with so the solution is just to give Oquendo his fight - get it done and move on.

The WBA did the same thing to Lucas Browne - sent him to Grozny.

This should be a WBSS tournament:

    Quarterfinals:
    Johnson - Pianeta
    Charr - Ustinov
    Briggs - Toney
    Peter - Kassi

The winner fights Fres for the WBA Fres belt.
