It's really hard to say since both takes such a step up in class. I mean, Donaire looked really, really good until he took on Rigo.

I do think Rigo's longer reach could prove to be a very important factor, though. You don't want to give up any reach to as good a counter puncher as Rigo.

I want to see Rigondeaux win but I agree with Rummy. I think Lomachenko would outwork Rigondeaux his size would be a big advantage for him and he'll likely win a decision or get a stoppage in the late rounds.

Lomachenko has one flaw, lack of top end power.

Agreed. I also have my suspicions about his physical durability.

Rigo is substanstially smaller though and have been hurt in his own weight class, so I wouldn't rule out that one punch from Loma can make a difference.

If Rigo manages to time Loma when he's coming in these advantages should be largely nullified, because I don't think Loma can walk through Rigo's punches.

Rigo's age is an unknown factor here, though. He could well be in decline and have been for some years. Such things are hard to tell when a fighter isn't really being tested.

For Loma it's going to be hard to really convince. If he wins emphatically, many are going to point to Rigo's age and lack of activity and testing opposition over the last few years, and might even not give it credit as a major victory. If it's tight, many will on the other say that he should have done better against his smaller, older opponent.

I wouldn't be in the least surprised if the fight ends with a controversial decision and subsequent rematch.

Ignore me if you like, as I know my question is a tad irrelevant, but how many pounds do you guys put between them peak for absolute peak (rather than 2017)? Is it just one true original gangster weight class (being two weight classes these days)?

In the old days Rigo would be a featherweight and Loma either a lightweight or a light welterweight. Yeah, so about one weight class.

I go with Loma on points in a difficult technical fight. There are people in general predicting an easy Loma win but I think that is just haters setting him up for fail so they can ridicule him later. Rigo may be older and moving up in weight but he has the reach and is still one of the very best counter punchers and defensive fighters in the game.
