Can Willard pull the trick and beat a less than peak George? Fight is scheduled for 26 rounds.

Willard has none of the guile of Yound and absorbs what Yound eluded.

George didn't have much of a Plan B, but that is irrelevant here. His Plan A would be sufficient.

If Foreman can't get Willard early, then he is in trouble.

Peak Willard? As in the one that knocked out Jack Johnson in the 26th? Yeah I’ll pick him.

I presume this is predicated on the idea that Foreman might gas out and that Willard was very durable?
Under the same humid conditions that Foreman lost to Young ,and with Foreman fighting the same way, Jess has a chance to outlast him ,imo.

There is always the possibility that Jess throws one down the pipe, and puts Foreman in a fight for his life, early on in the fight.

That is not an implausible scenario.

Big, strong guy who came to the game very late, seemed fairly disinterested in the sport but was able to use his size and durability to catch an older, jaded and out-of-shape champion and wrest the crown. Doesn't really have a list of great wins in his ledger. Doesn't possess elite balance or speed or fluidity on film. But generally was tough as nails.

Thinking that Foreman would take him apart hardly qualifies as a condemnation. Foreman would and did take apart most heavies.
