If they do a WBSS of Heavyweights and they can get the top HWs to take part, Who exactly would be involved? 16 Fighters Joshua Wilder Whyte Parker Ortiz Povetkin Pulev Miller T Fury Haye Chisora Ruiz Breazeale Helanius Bellew Dubois (a la Tyson in the 80s unification Tournement) I’m finding it hard to look past Joshua as the eventual winner but I think there’d be some shocks along the way. I don’t think Wilder would make the Final
It would be a cluster**** of stalled negotiations considering Joshua's drawing power is head and shoulders above every other name in the division. Certain fighters would also have to be carefully kept apart from each other in the brackets given some of them are banned from the rankings of specific sanctioning bodies. Too many egos and too much money to be made elsewhere for the obscene amount of red tape involved to be worth the effort IMO. Would much rather see a tournament at 126, 147 or 175.
I think Sirenko would knock Wilder out right now, but Wilder would never fight him, nor Joshua, nor Parker, esp. not Povetkin, nor even Whyte...................Wilder is afraid of Ortiz who did nothing wrong, but WBC had to protect Wilder as their boss ordered. By the way, Sirenko has very little pro experience, but you can hear his punches, he is good fighter, hits much harder than Wilder, has better defense, stronger, etc., Wilder would want to fight Sconiers again.................
I think it would have to go a level below the top fighters. Whyte Ortiz Povetkin Pulev Miller Chisora Breazeale Helanius/Molina/Hammer/Wach Throw in a wildcard like David Haye maybe. To be honest that tournament without the champions would be superb. Heavyweight boxing sells itself. The winner would effectively become mandatory challenger too.
Expect Povetkin, Wilder, Ruiz, Kownacky, Joshua, and Miller in it. Don't expect Haye but if he enters he will be eliminated in semi's.
Pretty sure Joshua and Wilder won't compete in it, except if the money involved is completely insane (which it probably isn't). I think @Scyson has the right idea here.
i think a championship would have to be on the line for most to join the tournament so hopefully swap one with Parker would be ideal
I don't think Joshua will participate. He would probably fight the winner of the tournament. Even I don't think that Wilder would participate he is such a primadona. But 16 people can be named : Povetkin, Pulev, Ortiz ( if not banned ) , Parker, Hammer, Kownacki, Miller, The winner of Kuzmin - Browne, Ruiz JR, Whyte, Takam, Martin, Chisora, Ustinov, H. Fury. Would be interesting to see those fighters in a tournament. I would say Povetkin and Pulev will have the biggest chances, then Parker. Also depends of how Takam will be against Joshua I would say he can be the sweet surprise in the tournament as well.
I don't think you would see the top heavyweights in it. Joshua wouldn't like sharing money 50/50.. wilder would be 2 scared to lose his 0 to some prospectlol... mayb joseph parker would enter it.. I wouldn't mind seeing it you could do something like this Parker kuzmin/browne winner whitye chisora knownacki takam Charles martin Oscar rivas wouldn't be the best tournament but still be entertaining... 175 and 154 an 147 is the divisions I want to see a tournament the most In though
