Nowhere near honestly, look at the recent pics of him. Middleweight boxers look just as big as him when stood by his side.
He isn't much lighter. He weighed more than 300 pounds after he retired. In his book, The Undisputed Truth, he talked about how out of control he got after he retired. How heavy he got. And how he was so humiliated by his appearance that he began working out again and didn't eat anything for two months except Tomato Basil soup. And how, once he's committed to training, he's always been able to drop weight expediently. He was a professional athlete for 20 years and he knows how to lose weight. And he kept it off when he was doing the tour for his Broadway show.
I don't know any middleweight boxers who look like that. https://usversusthem.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/mike-tyson-fat.jpg
when you think about everything there is a very good chance that floyd patterson was the first HW champ on steroids.
PEDs have probably been pretty prevalent in boxing and other sports for decades. I have no idea what percentage of world class athletes take PEDs but I would guess it's fairly high. I don't think Ike's psychological issues have to do with PED use, he was just a crazy ****. "Roid rage" probably gets blown out of proportion anyway. It's not like you hear about a whole lot of track & field and baseball stars being extra violent. Possibly Ike had mental issues to begin with and the trauma to the head made it worse?
The first heavyweight champion on steroids was likely Ken Norton. His son, Ken Norton Jr., was taking steroids in high school, according to a guy I used to know who attended high school with Jr. After Norton, it may have been Michael Dokes, who wasn't a big fellow as an amateur. And he was pretty erratic at times. But I think Evander was the first. Frans Botha was the first who was caught. That's not saying other heavyweights didn't try them in the 70s and 80s. We know some did. Bob Hazelton being the most notorious. But Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes ... no.
Roid rage is a myth. If you are an ******* before steroids, youre just going to be a bigger stronger and more confident ******* when you take them. Ike had other issues
Not sure about ali in the 60s, he looked stringy enough to not be on but frazier foreman and holmes were probably on, holmes im most sure about. I cant prove it but ive been working out for long enouh that i can tell justby the look of the guy 99% of the time. Most people working out and lifting weights for 5+ years can tell
Yes, I'd love to see a photo of a 300 pound welterweight. If you can cite ONE welterweight who has to lose 150 pounds before a fight, you win the prize.
Can you show me the proof Tyson was over 300lb, don't believe everything you read in a book. I'll ask you then, why is he clearly a lot lighter now than when he was fighting?
Frazier Foreman and Holmes were on steroids? Sorry, I just spit coffee out my nose. If Holmes and Frazier were on PEDs, they needed to get a refund. Also, Joe Frazier was a fat guy who took up boxing to lose weight. His weight was all from the hips down. His thighs were so big they rubbed together. Here is Joe Frazier trying to lift 160 pounds. (Go to about the 1:40 mark. At the 3:20 mark Joe nearly kills himself.) I think you're dead wrong. This content is protected
