Holmes is a legend. What a shot that was. Shavers was one of the hardest hitter in heavyweight history and p4p. Holmes not only get up and survive the round, but came back and win the fight!
Would any current top ten heavies get up from this?

That was a great shot and fighting on winning was impressive.
Have you listened to Holmes the last few decades ? Getting wise and worse

 

Hate to shatter your thread but Wlad hits WAY harder with so much more on it than shavers ever could.
The shot Aj got up from was I would bet my life would be far harder of a shot. And Aj got lit up in the temple, worst place to get caught especially when the shots unexpected.

Still, Holmes was a one tough SOB

 

Well, to be fair Wlad does have 30 pounds on Shavers. And it is arguable that Wlad hardest shot is probably bigger than Shavers.
But I disagree that the shot landed on AJ was harder than the one Holmes took.

I agree but those *******s were fighting in 8oz gloves not 12oz like Vlad and AJ

 

What a shot. Holmes was trying to time Shavers coming in, but shavers stepped a little quicker than he thought and as Holmes was throwing his head smashed into a loaded right hand... That would have knocked out a lot of fighters... Even more impressive is his recovery.

 

That shot would have made wilder sleep like Khan.

 

That right hook was brutal and landed CLEAN

 

If you look close it weren't on the temple or the chin... but in between, which was lucky for AJ

 

it shows that shavers wasnt a great finisher.

Holmes' chin is up there p4p, up there in the pack of runners-up behind Johnny Ruiz...definitely ATG for a HW.
