    Interesting.

I’m assuming they have signed deals?

    Didn’t see this coming!

Eddie Hearn might be twitching abit.

My god this card is going to be awful

    DeGale vs some bum
    Selby vs some bum
Yarde + Dubois vs TBA's with a 1 week camp

But yes I wonder what Hearn has to say about this?

Selby left hearn ages ago when he went with Al Haymon.

Hearn hasn't had a say in his fights for a long minute. Surprise Degale left matchroom though as thought he was back for good when he left Al Haymon

    Haha good old TBA.

Matchroom wanted to give Degale a big homecoming fight.

    Warren gives Degale the copperbox.

Degale and Hearn never saw eye to eye.

Hearn wanted to build him up in the UK, Degale wanted to go over to USA

I obviously don’t know this for sure but reading between the lines from comments Hearn has made over the last few months regarding DeGale and admittedly making some assumptions.

I would say Hearn doesn’t think he is a PPV star at the moment whereas Warren has probably offered him that PPV platform.

Let’s be honest there is a limit to how many ppv’s you can get away with. Hearn is already pushing it where as Warren needs the big names so he can justify them.

Somebody asked Degale on twitter what happened with matchroom and his reply was "ask Eddie"

The issue DeGale has is that the only PPV worthy fights available to him are all involved in the WBSS and are tied up for the next 2 fights / 6 months - Groves/Eubank/Smith.

Hearn probably think's that DeGale isn't a PPV fighter outside of those fights where as Warren has probably said he'd put him on PPV vs some can.

Grass isn't always greener as Frampton has found out.

Interesting but I doubt they are long term deals- the Selby signing is simply to build the Warrington fight.

I think if you read between the lines of a lot of the Degale and Eddie interviews on IFL it's quite easy to see where the problem was...

Degale - seemed to have this strange thought that he was a HUGE name in the UK off the back of his world title win and should be on the Joshua scale of only having PPV fights from now on.

Eddie - Saw Degale as needing a big name to get on PPV (fair enough) and pointed out that Degale fighting at 4 am against mandatories isn't drawing in the casual fans... and whether people like it or not it's the casuals which drives the PPVs.

Think they had a bust up about Degale wanting ring side tickets for the AJ Klitschko fight?

Either way it'll be interesting to see how ticket sales go for this....

    No doubt and his right.

I don't blame Degale going with Haymon and fighting abroad as he clearly was being well paid however it came at an expense. Degale doing that meant it was impossible to build his profile and make him a PPV fighter over here.

Degale is an Olympic champ, world champ and had a good style. There is no reason why he couldn't be a star selling out arenas and ppv buys but you need to fight here and build oneself up to do that.

Degale on Sky box office would bomb right now unless he was fighting Groves or Eubank Jnr.

    Pretty much this.

DeGale chose to go to the US and it didn't work out for him and has been totally eclipsed by Groves and I hate to say it, Eubank too.

    Agreed...

I can imagine Frank Warren selling the dream...

    Warren:
so James, I can see it now your name on lights... your big come back.

DeGale: yes, fish eyes where we saying the Emirates... O2??

Warren: kind of... the Copper Box!

I welcome the competition as this will force Hearn to come up with better Saturday Fight Nights. No matter what you say,Hearn tried to keep De Gale, and made Frampton a offer, which implys he wanted Frampton. That's 2-0 to fisheyes within a couple of months.I would be worried about the depth of Matchroom's stable,Heavyweight down if i was Hearn.Props to Warren it's getting better as months fly by.Who would've said this time last year,he would get backing from BT,Frampton as a Headline fighter,De Gale joining,Yarde and Dubois are clearly getting more attention, fight after fight,Is Hearn stagnating,if Joshua ever decides to go the Mayweather route of signing his own deal with TV Networks,Hearn and Matchroom are ****ed.

I wouldn't say Hearn is stagnating his just picky. Degale isn't a major draw over here, that's a fact. Matchroom hasn't been promoting Degale for years now as his been with Haymon with Eddie getting his cut. It's not like they have just lost a big money maker for the business as Degale isn't that just yet.

He needs to try and push callum Smith after the WBSS. If anything hunt down Degale.
