Honestly what Khan said on his twitter is pretty accurate. He was outboxing Canelo early on and he's got a point that Mayweather doesn't have that power to put him out like Canelo did. Would Khan Mayweather be a chess match ? Yes I think it would, we all wanted to see that fight back in 2015, but Floyd wanted none of Amir King Khan.
See the Lamont Peterson SD fight. This is Khan's limits on being out boxed. Now take a guy that's 10 times the better boxer than Peterson. That should answer your question if Floyd ducked or not. Khan posses absolutely no threat. Floyd would pick off his "quicker hands" punches just as easy and counter. Khan not having the best defense would get countered all night.
Khan doesnt even deserve to be mentioned in the Mayweather mix. Hes done nothing to merit a mayday payday. Fast hands fast feet, great, cool, whats your point, in what day and age does that get you a mega fight. results get you mega fights, super fights. 3 losses in your last 8 does not give you the right to fight the best of the generation. For some strange deluded reason Amir Khan thinks hes a superstar in boxing and that the boxing world owes him something, hurry up and get knocked out by Brook and retire.
Then i dont get why he didnt take the fight,Khan Mayweather would've made much more money than Maidana.Floyd loves money,so it would've made more sense, also given Khan is British,it would've tapped into the British Market.I heard a interview from Stephen Espinoza(Weasel),that the market's which bring in 95% of Tv revenue is US and UK.Argentina is not a ppv market. If Floyd offered Khan 70/30 even 75/25,definitely Khan would've taken it as the rewards substantially outworks the risk, even if he got KO'ed at least it's from Mayweather,so your name would get bigger.Give Khan a choice out of Garcia,Canelo,Prescott,Mayweather.Who would you want to be knocked out by if you had to choose,Mayweather by a million miles.
Nah.. Khan wasn't worth it... That fight wasnt gonna sell for crap contrary to what others may think.. .. Easy work for Floyd obviously
I don't know where this idea that Khan is some skilled boxer came from. If you actually watch him, you'll see he has poor fundamentals. He makes amateur mistakes.
Timing beats speed all day any boxing trainer will tell you this and teaches this. timing will beat speed and speed will beat timing. Even if the fighters have crazy fast hands and they have crazy reflexe's and God gifted super speed and even they got beat by slower fighters and timing. So Khan being fast and having fast hands wont help him against Mayweather who has some of the best timing and hand speed in the game. Crazy talented God gifted Super athletic Super speed fighters. Meldrick Taylor - Legendary Hand Speed This content is protected Timing beats Super Hand speed Chávez breaks Taylor down by using timing chopping down the tree with a vicious body attack and head attack. This content is protected Roy Jones Jr boxer with Super human hand speed This content is protected Timing beats Super human hand speed. This content is protected Amir Khan has fast hands but that didn't help him against fighters who were slower than Khan but used timing against Khan to catch him and stop him. This content is protected Amir Khan would have his moments if he fought Mayweather, but when Mayweather gets his timing down its all over for Khan Mayweather would beat him easy.
That's BS. The fact Khan actually tries to claim some kind of victory vs Canelo is a joke. Canelo knew exactly what he was doing and waited to Khan slowed down. Nobody cares that Khan was up on the cards after 5 rounds when he got brutally knocked out. That was easy work for Canelo. Also since when has anyone needed huge power to hurt Khan?
I agree that Canelo knew exactly what he was doing waiting for Khan to slow down. But Khan saying he was outboxing Canelo is technically true. I wouldn't say Khan was easy work for Canelo, he made it look easy but he also hit him with a brilliant well timed punch. Floyd hasn't had a legit knockout in over an decade. Floyd's retired and well past his prime. Khan has fought plenty of decent punchers who haven't been able to knock him out or hurt him. Like Maidana, Peterson, Collazo, Judah, etc. Khan's only been knocked out 3 times in his career. Stylistically Khan's all wrong for Floyd, with Khan's speed and volume punching, he can win rounds on Floyd like he's done vs pretty much everybody he's ever fought. The question is whether or not Floyd could hurt him. If Floyd can't, then Khan has a good chance of winning a decision.
