The Degale deal is fight by fight. Makes sense given the fact that he's marking time until the next round of the WBSS. I'd like to see Degale/Eubank and I suspect so would Sky.
Sky do not those Fight Deals Anymore, the last time i think was back in 2011-2012,with Amir Khan. But if AJ did ever decide to leave Matchroom to be in control of all aspects of his career, the descion would be heavily influenced by his Manager,Freddie Cunningham who is in charge of AJ Boxing, which includes Buatsi,Okolie,so i do not see them ditching Hearn anytime soon.It is simple to be on Sky you have to have Matchroom Involvement of some sorts. But someone like AJ,he will definitely not be short on offers,BT would certainly come up with the money,to entice him if they ever see any signs of disconnect.
So I'm guessing these signings also means Frank is in a place to eventually make Selby-Warrington and Degale-Groves\Eubank Jr? Maybe even Selby-Frampton.
The AJ stuff it will all be down to the deal, the reason Mayweather went solo was because he was being screwed and saw the numbers. Eddie has said in interviews etc before that he maps out the whole financial plan to the fighters and they get to see what's what... I think the long term eventuality will be a partnership with AJ Boxing, but I don't think AJ Boxing will go solo... They seems to have a good relationship between them. With regards to Degale, where does he go from here realistically? Obviously the top fighters are tied to super series, but after that... Callum Smith? You'd imagine Sky would blow BT out the water with the PPV for this. Eubank? They won't work with Warren and if he's the super series winner he'll become a mega star... Groves? He might officially be signed to Sauderlands but realistically he's a SKY fighter, this one's a case of who holds the most money. Groves is the "A" side in this one... realistic one maybe; Ramirez? he's fighting in Feb, Frank does love a bit of WBO... Would they have the money to get him over here? would Degale take that fight? Neither of them really have a big enough profile for PPV. The only thing is Degale will have a mandatory coming up next year too
i highly doubt DeGale fights on BT after this. more than likely a one fight situation coz he cant get on Sky on the date he wants for the money he wants
So true! Either way Eubank could just stay with ITV... If he wins the WBSS the DeGale fight could easily be made on ITV and would do big numbers.
Lol so only last week various members tried to laugh me off the forum when I said Frank was on the move and closing in on fast Eddie...Now look instead of ‘Franks got no name fighters’ there complaining that the name fighters are going to be fighting bums.
Who do you think he has with mass appeal? i.e. PPV standard to rival Sky. Not being sarcastic, just genuinally interested...?
Exactly this. All the top super middleweights are tied up with the WBSS and Degale himself is coming back off injury. It’s just a small tune up fight and then probably another early next year and he will hope for a September showdown against the winner of the tournament. PPV all the trimmings. Selby is an obvious one. Frank has promise Frampton a big fight at home. The Santa Cruz deal will fall flat on his face and fresh off stopping josh Warrington at elland road in front of a decent crowd of 20k, Selby’s stock has risen and guess what he can face you in Ireland too for the world title and we will PPV that as well. Can see these coming a mile off.
It’s not just about PPV, however there is only 1 AJ if that’s where your coming from. Last time I checked Hearn doesn’t have any other fighters even close to being major business. Bellews only reallly PPV because of Haye. Who else has mass appeal for Hearn? Franks BT shows and upcoming schedule wipes the floor with Hearns who’s stable is so rapidly reducing of genuine talent he is trying to mask it with a succession of these pathetic Nextgen shows. Next year Frank has already got Selby - Warrington lined up (a fight Hearn couldn’t deliver for whatever reasons) Who knows, perhaps he can land Degale the big UK fight that for whatever reasons Hearn again couldn’t deliver (Froch, Groves 2, Callum Smith...) Yarde & Dubious are starting to get wider attention and given the right opponents and development could be big stars in a year or so... I don’t want Hearn to fall down, we’ve never had it better in British boxing then we have now in the last decade with both of these big dogs but Eddie is starting to stagnant just like his dad did Yrs ago before he fcuked off to promote darts and fishing. He needs to keep his eye on the ball instead of chasing this American dream (which will fizzle out to nothing) and relying on AJ PPVs and occasional freak shows like Haye-Bellew otherwise Frank will take over.
