The Italian was the best super heavyweight in the world for a while in the amateur ranks, combining size, speed skills and one heck of a left hook.

He won gold in one Olympics, and Gold two in the world amateurs championships, which has an even better field than the Olympics itself.

I think he'd would have been than Wilder or Parker, and look where they are today.

I agree he would of defeated Wilder and Parker. The division is weak at the moment, that's why those two have straps. Looking forward to tomorrow the best HW Joshua takes on the underrated Takam. That's a fight can get excited about.
what were the names Camarelle defeated in the amateurs.

Roberto would have been world champion material in the pros and the best Italian fighter in a long, long time. The biggest hurdle he would have had is that much of his best would've overlapped with Wlad's prime.

Out of today's lot, there's a damn good chance a prime version wouldve unified. I'd still pick a past prime version over Wilder and Parker.

That's a deep resume. Yes he would of been a legit top flight HW. Don't think he would of defeated Wlad though.

Same here. Povetkin vs Cammarelle could have been a good one.

I always vision his career would have been simular to Schultz'... popular in his home country, but nobody cared about him outside of it and gets robbed when it matters.

He could have gotten a couple of millions out of it though.

What were his reasons for not going pro? He literally left millions on the table there, he must have a very strong opinion on the matter.

I believe that Italy has a really good amateur program, they pay his boxers very well and give them sponsorship deals durig their careers, after they retire, they give them jobs in the italy police department.

I've always wondered why he didn't turn pro. Seemed like he had a style that would've worked well in the pros. I thought he deserved the win over Joshua in the Olympic Final.
