If you were Blackburn, how would you have Louis fight Tyson?

Tyson didn`t use head movement against Holy in their first fight. Louis never used a high guard he always had his lead hand slightly extended in line with his opponents centre line so the jab would be more likely to land problem wit that was he left his lead low after he jabbed and could be caught with counter rights like he was in the first Schmeling fight.

 

Rooney would do more than shout a series of numbers and hope for the best! You are getting Rooney mixed up with Jay Bright who was in Tyson`s corner for his dreadful display in first Holy fight, that was not the real Tyson.

 

We are talking prime here,at his best Tyson had excellent head movement .Louis against Schmeling 1 did not return his left to the guard position after jabbing.This was corrected to a great extent in his future fights .

 

Okay thanks, I just watched a film study on how Louis lost against Schmeling and some guy replied angrily why didn`t the channel do a follow up film study on how Louis adjusted and won the rematch so I`ll have to either wait for that or check Louis fights that came after Schmeling 1. I know Tyson had brilliant head movement and that it decreased after he fired Rooney.

 

Tyson was trained on a bag shaped like a torso , same as Jose Torres and Floyd Patterson,it was called "the apparatus" D'Amato would call out sequences of numbers which represented pre-determined combinations,it might be 1, 3. 5 or whatever, they could represent jab, right uppercut ,left hook and they would execute those punches.

 

EXACTLY right. Jabbing and moving or laying back at all would be the worst thing he could possibly do.

When Tyson closes aggressively he needs to let his hands go. Other times he could go in blazing then tie Tyson up before he retaliates. He needs to establish his power and the fact that Tyson will be able to attack freely without retribution. I'd also be practising tying his man up in sparring. Louis could potentially compete at mid range tho, he might be the only guy ever who could.

Louis could sometiems start a bit methodically and there would be no room whatsoever for that in this one. I'd have him thoroughly warmed up and ready to roll from the first second of the fight.

Tyson is Tyson, he has no plan B. He needs to hope his A game gets him home basically. He just needs to do what he does and hope his strengths are enough to get him home.

I agree with this.

I appreciate that Baer and Tyson are not remotely similar, but this is how Louis should do it.

He backed up just enough to keep Baer walking onto a carefully prepared killing zone, and brained him while he was coming in.

When an exchange became to his distaste, he spun him out of position, and made him walk through the fire again.
Baer could have made Louis come after him, but that would not have been an option for Tyson.

 

Have Louis use his jab and combos

Have Tyson swarm him

 

If I was Kevin Rooney, I'd call the hospital, looking for donors because Louis is taking Tyson's heart!
