Takam won the 9th round and Joshua was gassing.
The referee was looking for any chance to stop it for Joshua.
Joshua had Takam shook a bit but Takam was punching back.

    The whole thing stinks.

On the face of it that was a premature stoppage, I don’t think Takam had any chance of winning so calls of corrupt, Home town Ref etc are just stupid. Joshua had the fight won without the stoppage, he had the rounds in the bank and was hurting Takham with some heavy shots. On the other side of it Takham doesn’t have the power to turn that around.

I thought it was a poor performance from Joshua, he definitely needs to drop some weight and come in at 240 to 244, maybe the broken nose affected him but either way it wasn’t his best performance.

I don’t know what’s in the Refs mind but he’s got the best view of the cuts and I’m sure I heard the Dr say if they get worse he’d stop it. Takham wanted to carry on but sometimes fighters are too brave for their own good.

Dreadful. Obviously Joshua would've won but that had a points win written all over it. Takam did well there, I think Joshua would've failed to knock him out and just won on points if not for that stoppage.

It's a lot of subtle things that add up to one fighter always having an advantage. It's pretty devious if you think about it.

One note. If you're 'road' fighter, the ref jumps and stops it. If you're 'home' fighter, the ref won't stop it :)

This. I doubt Takam would've won either, but I think he would've went the distance and I think they want to keep Joshua's KO record unblemished.
