Worst stoppage I have seen in a long time.

Takam arguably won 2 of the 3 previous rounds, he wasn't badly wobbled or anything, skimmed with a few shots, hit with 1 or 2 good ones, he was on his feet, still moving and this joke of a ref stepped in and stopped it, he probably saw Joshua was gassing out and and Takam was having more and more success so he decided to stop it, geniunely if the fight went on there was 1/10 chance of Joshua being knocked out as Takam was really hitting him with good shots.
Hats off to Takam, chin and heart, good movement, stamina and better defense than I thought he had. On the other hand Joshua did not impress me one bit, though I think on this night Takam would have given trouble to anybody, and probably would beat Parker.

Takam has become the new Emmanuel Augustus or Glen Johnson of the heavyweights. IMO he deserved the win against Perez, a Draw with Parker, a NC from drug cheat Sasha, and this Bullspit stoppage. Poor guy.

Yeah it was god damn awful. He wasn't even close to being knocked down and had already showed he could handle Joshua's power pretty well. I think he would of gone the distance. He was never going to win but he should of at least be given the chance to end the fight on his feet.

I thought Joshua was well on his way to victory but this was the worst stoppage I've seen since Froch/Groves I.

Protecting the 100% stoppage rate I think to keep as a marketable little factoid for the Wilder clash

It was worse than Froch/Groves I. Groves was far more hurt and unsteady on his legs.

Takam barely won 1 round all fight.

    Early stoppage...agreed.

But people are getting way ahead of themselves.

    It was a beat down.

Why does the scorecard matter? Do you think the Whyte Helenius fight should've been stopped as well?

See, there's a reason people are calling this an 'early stoppage'....because that's exactly all it was 'early'.

There was no robbery. The fight wasn't close and Takam was taking the most punishment he was all night.

    Was it early? Yes.

Is it worth discussing when we have more important issues to deal with in the sport, such as corrupt/inept judging during one of the biggest fights of the year? No.

The outcome of the fight for the heavy weight crown isn't worth discussing?

And you don't think that this kind of stoppages MIGHT have something to do with that corruption or inept refereeing?

I have no problem with protecting a fighter, but in the UK this school of thought only seems to apply to the away fighter. The house fighter always gets every chance to recover. As soon as an away fighter gets into any trouble, especially in later rounds, it gets waved off. After about round 5, when it was obvious Takam wasn't getting blown away, you just knew it was going to get stopped as soon as Takam was in any sort of trouble.

AJ was winning comfortably, without giving Takam a beat down. Whilst I would think AJ goes on to win >95% of the time without referee intervention, Takam wasn't out of the fight nor looked ready to be stopped. It is heavyweight, it is going into the championship rounds, both fighters are tiring, and well..... 1 punch can change everything.

Takam deserved a chance to see the final bell (I think he was at least 50% likely to) and have that outside chance at landing a big shot.

And it sure was a robbery. Not in the sense of Takam was robed of a sure victory, but he was robbed of the chance of one.

There's a point of fights beeing 12 rounds.

Oh dear....."The outcome of the fight". Behave will you?

If the ref was on the take why not use the perfect excuse of the cut?

AJ dominated another top 10 heavyweight, lets move on please.

You Americans are getting a bit ahead of yourselves, not convinced again by AJ and i think Wilder will give him major problems, but look at it again, his legs were slightly stumbling, took 3 shots flush, and was already KO once.Froch Groves was very even, this was not,Fair play to Takam he wass better than expected.AJ,i would stay the hell away from Wilder,i would say to Hearn, send Whyte to Wilder, and focus on Parker, who is a less risk.I say that purely because of Wilder's power and long Jab,it can match AJ,and after seeing Whyte's performance,Wilder may not be so deluded afterall Whyte should be easy work. His power is limited, height strength Wilder wins, unless it comes down to Heart and Grit,Wilder will Ko him in less than 6 rounds
