Ortiz from the Thompson & Jennings fights I would agree. But he's apparently 48 year old. Every passing day is like a month to him at his age. I don't think his last two performance can be blamed on his opponents spoiling it. It's most likely that he is finished.
I don't for a second believe these age rumours. Google him on images and have a look at his hairline. How many 48-year olds do you know who have a hairline like he does, with zero bald patches and no visible greys? That is rare as hell in this age.
I'm not so sure. I remember when he fought Dave Allen, Adam Smith mentioned the rumours about his age & mentioned an interview where Ortiz allegedly said he used to watch Ali live growing up (no 38 year old can say that)...and sky are normally PC about these things. Bellew said he was an old guy when he was in the amateurs and that was over a decade ago. Plus, a fighter came out recently, was it Mansour? Who said an old Cuban team mate of Ortiz told him they added ten years onto his official age. There's several examples of this, added to the fact that Ortiz's team have never addressed these rumours & its happened many times in the past with Cuban boxers.
Yeah I saw the Mansour thing but I have no reason to believe a word he says. The Ali quote could easily have been a misquote. Remember when he boxed on Monte Carlo card he had an interpreter. These quotes always get lost in translation. I just think the eye test says he's not 48 or anywhere near 50. Seriously think about all your pals and relatives who are near 50. Can you think of a single one of them who has a full head of hair, same colour with that hairline? He has a 25 year old's hairline. Sure he could be genetically blessed in that area but it's very rare. He's just an ugly *******, that's all.
He has the saggy t*ts of a 50 year old, that's for sure. We will have to agree to disagree on this one. I think there's too much smoke here. The fact that many commentators, journalists & the likes bring the rumours up suggests to me there is merit to it. As I said in my previous post, these type of people are normally ultra, ultra PC & wouldn't dare bring up such an allegation unless they knew there was some credibility to it. Anyway, ortiz has been frozen out. I knew that Wilder match up was never gonna happen. The business team done well with that one.
Ortiz, Povetkin and even Parker stand a decent chance against Joshua. Thing is tho I don't see any of them knocking him out and after last night its pretty clear that the cash cow will be protected whether that be via a robbery on the score cards or a premature stoppage.
Ortiz has lethal power but I'm unsure as to how much punishment he can take himself. Been saying for a while to friends that Povetkin gives Joshua absolute Hell. Can't see either of those two fights being made though, plus they're both at the tail ends of their career.
Povetkin would destroy Joshua, I think it would be a demolition job. Like a two round beating from start to finish.
He is at an age where he has to take PEDs to be able to perform at top level. Given his track record in failing drugs tests we can safely assume he will take more when his ban is lifted. Same with Povetkin, Thompson etc.
He doesn't fight like a 48 year old either in fairness. That's the acid test more than anything, he can do 12 easy
Did you not see how bad Povetkin looked in his last fight against an injured Rudenko? He's nothing without PED's in his system, AJ would batter him until he quit inside 6 rounds. Ortiz I understand, he could cause AJ all type of problems but Povetkin no way!
