Why are we giving opponents credit for simply 'surviving' beatdowns? He's had 20 professional fights with 20 KO's. He's KO'd a total of 4 top 10 Heavyweights (Wlad was top 10 at the time). He's lost maybe 5 rounds in his career. (4 against Wlad and maybe 1 against Whyte). Yet we've got two other belt holders.... One who can't land on novice Hughie Fury The other who loses rounds and gets outboxed by the likes of Molina and Washington.
The division is in shambles after the real champ retired. Now we have three "champs" staring at each other, saying they can beat one another.
I think we are all gonna get a shock with Fury returning next year, totally unprepared just for the dough. Puts that one to bed too, as anyone at the top would be too active for him now ! Shame, but Hearn will make him an offer and he'll be half arsed and get beat..
Joshua cannot win. He doesn't fight Fury - "AJ never fought the real champ, guy who first beat Wlad" etc etc He fights Fury next year - "Fury wasn't bothered, wasn't fit" etc etc.
Joshua is the man at heavyweight and everyone knows it. Don't believe the hype. But obviously he won't reign forever.
Any claims Tyson Fury had to the title have long since evaporated. He could have proven the first win wasn't a fluke, but he ran from the rematch (under a cloud of drug abuse) and never defended the titles once. Joshua's more of a champ than Fury will ever be.
The championship is vacant. Someone needs to step up and beat the rest, and then they will be champion. Fury's not really a factor any more. A year ago, okay. But now, no. Joshua, Wilder, Parker, Ortiz, Povetkin are generally considered the main contenders right now. Let's see if they fight one another.
