Or if he outboxed Takam and Ruiz more convincingly. I have both those guys in the lower reaches of the HW top ten but they both took 4-6 rounds off Parker. You could even argue Ruiz won. But hey I'm not gonna knock self confidence in this of all games. Joshua is flawed, Parker is flawed, they both think they can beat each other so no reason not to unify. I just think Joshua has the beating of Parker based on what we've seen in both men's careers thus far.
Martin - Joshua wanted a world title. Breazeale - Undefeated prospect - step up in competition. Molina - Won rounds against and wobbled Wilder - Step up in competition. Takum - Mandatory Do you even understand the concept of building a fighter and mandatories? Wilder hasn't fought a top 10 contender in 9 years as a pro. Parker has fought 1 top 10 contender in 5 years as a pro....and struggled all fight.
It isn’t easy to train with your maximal Intensity when your not even sure you will get a shot, so what’s your point.
Don't patronise me you silly little boy. Parker is an undefeated prospect and has a bigger reputation and more credible wins on his record than Molina, Breazele and Takum. And parking was in the process of being his mandatory until he got messed around. End of discussion
Wasn’t Stiverne a champion when Wilder fought him, and some people had Washington on the latter end of the top 10.
Doesn't matter Parker is bigger name than all of Joshua's previous opponent's besides Wladimir, Kevin Johnson. Molina is a former subsitute teacher for goodness sake and here you are justifying Joshua fighting him because he went a couple of rounds with Wilder. Breazelle a former NFL player and you seem to think Parker Joshua wouldn't have been able to sell? Madness. Start talking sense or stop wasting my time.
Parker is possibly a lot better than some people think. Has he ever been floored, hurt, stunned or wobbled? He's looked mediocre in his last three, but Hughie Fury running around would give anyone problems, and Andy Ruiz is a decent awkward boxer too (not sure about Cojanu though). Parker can go 12 rounds quite comfortably and he might have an iron chin (I don't know but I associate New Zealand with good chins! LOL )
I think Parker showed improved head and upper body movement vs Hughie Fury. He's not such an easy target as before when coming in. But you're right he can't do what Takam did. When Parker is defensive and slipping shots he is often overly defensive and puts his body in bad positions where he is not in a position to counter effectively. Takam does it differently he doesn't sacrifice his offense for his defence, he'll slip shots but stay in positions to counter back, ensuring an opponent doesn't push him back. For Parker to win, he'll need to fix that and counter against Joshua's aggression effectively. Currently he'll get pushed back into defensive positions and be forced to move to reset, allowing Joshua to keep his forward momentum. He'll also need to improve his jab to keep AJ on the outside, movement alone won't be enough, he'll need a better jab to force Joshua to reset or draw leads to counter. He'll need to work on his clinching too to prevent AJ opening up on him as much. He can't completely negate it AJ is too strong in close but it will negate some opportunities for AJ to open up on him.
He seemed to gas against Takam for me, Takam also gassed so that helped him out in that fight. Parker has never fought a big puncher his whole career so he shouldn’t have a reason to hit the deck, although Parker does seem to take shots well.
AJ v Parker isn't a bigger fight than AJ against most domestic rivals though....or fights against US opposition. AJ vs an inactive David Haye is a bigger fight than Parker. Like i've said time and time again, Parker needs to raise his profile. Try and get a fight with Haye vs Bellew winner maybe?
Parker never commits to his jab which is a shame coz he has a good sharp jab, to beat AJ it seems the tactic is to stay on the outside and make him throw. When he tires out which he routinely will you need to have enough saved away to come on strong and take advantage. It is easier said than done because he throw big bombs early.
Joshua obviously likes to brawl and trade. I think someone like Parker might possibly capitalize on that. Parker is a decent strong boxer. He's got good all round ability. If he's proven to have a great chin he might be a nightmare. People get very impressed by powerful combos and highlight reel knockouts. They also like muscular physiques. Hence why Joshua is so popular. But at the top level there's a lot more to boxing than the highlight moments. Sometimes the guy's with ugly styles or duller looking performances are actually better boxers. Anyway good luck to Joseph Parker. I hope he gets a big payday and recognition. He's a much more likeable personality than Joshua and Wilder. I like his style.
