We knew it was top quality before the Canelo fight.
What the Canelo fight showed in parts was something I've said for a while. Golovkin rolls a lot of shots. There was a HUGE right Canelo landed which he basically threw from ****ing Mexico that GGG ate up, but he partly rolled with it. That chin is tucked away a lot too so a lot lands on other parts of the head. Though I remember Jacobs found that chin a few times coming out of clinches, so yeah I guess that was the real test.

IsaL, sorry no one mentioned your boy's chin before you did. Who did you pick to win the fight, genuinely I can't recall? Anyway if you feel he isn't getting love then start a thread yourself.

So GGG was so slow he made flat footed Canelo look like a runner? :jaja-no::laufband:

He has a very good chin, and has good skils. But his punching power is overrated, he puts on alot of pressure and is heavy handed like cotto at 140 and chavez. He was never a McClellan or Julian jackson level puncher. The brook, lemieux, canelo and jacobs fights prove it.

Based on all the punches he took in what fight??

The Canelo fight? So lets say he took a tonne of shots in that fight , that would mean he must have landed a hell of a lot more on Canelo , cos GGG comfortably won that fight ,yeah ?

But if he landed so many shots on smaller Canelo and GGG is far more heavier handed and Canelo was never buzzed , hurt or dropped ...... then how the hell does GGG have the best chin in boxing??????????????

9? Out of 10? You're being far too harsh there.

I'd give it a 33/10 rating. Legends say that the dark lord Sauron himself forged it out of discarded Nokias.

    It's a good point.

Canelo's chin is clearly elite - has he ever been dropped? I honestly don't know.

The hype around GGGs chin is of course because he's NEVER been dropped or even had wobbly legs, in over 400 fights. As far as I'm aware, no other boxer can make this claim.

Who did you have winning the fight btw?

to be fair, if you were fighting a ko artist from a higher division, you are supposed to fight on the retreat, whichis exactly what he was doing.

Canelo has never been down but he was wobbled big time against the other Cotto. He was only young then, mind

He has a granite chin. There are many examples but the one that stands out from the Canelo fight is that monster right hand GGG took in the middle of round 9 and didn't even flinch. It barely hurt him.

That being said, age will not help his chin. Margarito had a monster chin but Mosley still broke it. Every chin has a breaking point, except Chuvalo :deal:

    Yes biology sucks

Even granite ages, and gets cracked eventually, if you keep on hitting it.

Not even a fan of Golovkin, but his chin's iron-ness
was more than proven prior to the Canelo fight. That
    was not in question.
