The guy is literally earning a living off one punch that rocked AJ (which is no achievement). Helenius rocked him twice in the opening rounds and then let him regain his composure, any live heavyweight would've finished him there and then. I used to like the guy, I'm sure he would fight anyone but he is bloody terrible!
Yeah, I agree. As for the 'fight anyone' stuff, maybe but I think Hearn is less happy to put him in with opp that's going to make the AJ rematch difficult to make. Hence why he's demanding a Mil to rematch Chisora, I guess.
I like Dillian, I think he's an entertaining character outside the ring and the way he's generally used on the AJ under-cards brings a bit of excitement to the show as an opposite side to the PR trained, stay hungry and be respectful side that AJ brings. I think he did what he needed to on Saturday, Not every fight is going to be a war like Chisora... One thing I will say is he doesn't carry huge power. He's just a pawn on the Joshua/Matchroom board at the moment. They want him in the ring with Wilder for the simple reason whatever the outcome it creates a monster fight for one of them...
https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...-whyte-is-an-absolute-bum-heavyweight.559720/ Made this thread almost two years ago and I stand by it. He's very limited as a fighter, very feather fisted. If he had one punch KO power he would be a world level threat.
He's OK, the fact that he could be ranked top 10 in the HW division goes to show how weak HW is outside the top 5.
Too many of his punches are telegraphed, the opponent can see them coming a mile off. Reminds me of Bellew. He needs to add a bit of guile, a bit of deception to his game. Start using a few throw away jabs to set up a right, maybe a few feints to deceive his opponent. I mean he's never going to be Lomachenko, but I do think with more training he can be better than we saw at the weekend.
The fight he had against a shopworn and shot Chisora showed how limited he is. Many have been calling out his limitations on the British boxing forum of this site even before that. A good workhorse with above average output, who moves well, but has a poor defence, and not enough power to be a contender at the top level. Also his poor defence will eventually lead to punch resistance issues, as the cumulative affects of shots takes its toll. We saw Chisora land some bombs that had that been a Whyte with 5 more fights under his belt may have stopped him. I would back Usyk or Gassiev when they come up from CW to HW, to absolutely smash a Whyte level HW to bits. Wilder bodies him with a long right hand for sure.
I agree it wasn't impressive at all, it all looked rather laboured and basic, Whyte didn't do himself any favours with that sort of performance. I heard on commentary Saturday one of them say something like "Whyte looks like one of those fighters that fights at his opponents level" And I can sort of see that in him, he either seems to drag himself up or sinks down to his opponents level. I'm not saying that's it but it's a theory, either way Whyte didn't look good and will have to up his game dramatically if he has any serious ambition of winning a version of the world title.
So do you think Hearn will still allow Whyte and Wilder to go ahead, eventhough it could be a mismatch. One wilder right hand,I think Whyte is on Shaky Legs.
Solid heavyweight contender but is just that... a contender. Big heart and as game as they come but not sure he can win a world title. Maybe against Parker even money, but Wilder and AJ rematch would be a knockout loss. Wilder should take the money come to the UK and do the business to set up the AJ fight properly. Wilders power is the game changer.
Whyte looked good when he was knocking out journeymen but since his stepped up his looked average and to struggle with chisora am a big chisora fan but he was a shell the Pulev proved that and chisora was pushing whyte back and bullying him at times and if chisora was The home fighter he would have got the win
