Once again the heavyweight division is described as "wide open" meaning there's no dominate champion. However, "wide open heavyweight division" was also used to describe the division even when it had a single dominate champion for about 10 years straight. With the current state of affairs Joshua is expected to dominate so is the division really "wide open"? I personally don't see it as having a dominate champion neither Wilder nor Joshua. I think there's parity in the division. I don't think Joshua could beat Whyte 3 out of 3 times. Also Joe Joyce is throwing his hat in the ring and possibly Daniel Dubois. Then there's two time bronze medalist Ivan Dychko, sluggers Kuzmin and Sirenko and the probability that some of the overlooked talented cruiserweights are going to enter the heavyweight hunts too; Dorticos, Usyk, Gassiev could make some noise.
Wilder has never fought a legit fighter in his entire fake career and Joshua has flaws...............there are some really good fighters coming up from Eastern Europe, I really like Sirenko, and many more, they are coming up fast................
The division is a hot mess. The hall of famer retired. The champion fell apart and ballooned up In weight and may never fight again. The young upstart didn't look great in last fight and received a bogus stoppage. The wbc belt holder never defends against any threat or even a top 10 fighter in a weak division. The wbo title holder seems to have plateaud and arguably the best fighter in the division is blackballed in many areas for testing for meldonium. Weak division.
Who doesn't or who didn't have "flaws" ? No athlete nor human ever was without flaws. The ones who seem or try coming off as flawless are usually the most flawd of them all. Aj, he can't ever be the man, he "has flaws". No way, you don't say !!!!
right now there's Joshua, Povetkin, Pulev, Wilder, Parker, H Fury, Ruiz Jr, Kownacki soon there will be Teslenko, Kuzmin, Usyk, Gassiev, Dychko, Sirenko, Joyce, Afonin It will heat up!
I think its a decent division, a fun division (if the fights get made, and one that is there for the taking by any of the top guys.
This. Lots of folks don't like to hear it. But this. Not to mention that the top 6-20 ranked guys actually suck. 2 of the top 5 have legit popped for PED's. No good fighters doesn't make a good division. It makes a potentially competitive and entertaining one. But the fighters aren't all better because they look good by comparison to the others around them. If you complained about the quality of the division during the K-Era, you should be complaining about the quality of the division now... just minus two HOF'ers.
Yep the division is not under a Ukranian lock down since Fury ripped control away from Wladamir. At this moment in time i see a stand out 5 who are Joshua, Parker, Wilder, Povetkin and if he is serious Tyson Fury and i think all 5 are capable of beating each other. Although im struggling to picture Wilder beating Povetkin. There are a few up and comers who are looking like they may be big time players but i think they are a few fights and a couple of years away from arriving yet.
