i actually think canelo has a bright future ahead. He's young 27 years old been in the ring with the very best . Sugar shane ,Cotto , Lara ,Trout , Floyd Mayweather, Chavez, He almost even had a clash with a very avoided fighter paul williams. Hes not even near peaking . his head movement ,hand eye coordination, Counter punching , speed and power. Not to mention because he's been cherry picking( amir khan, liam smith ,kirkland, angulo, ) he hasnt really taken alot of punishment. He's a fresh fighter that uses his brain. I do believe that he lost to triple ggg , however he showed he can adjust. And neutralize his attacks. Im not a canelo fan in any way. I actually was hoping he'll get knocked out. I am a ggg fan but before im a ggg fan im a boxing fan . I'm anxious for canelo to prove me wrong again especially since he is now fighting guys his size. Those days of canelo knocking out welterweights are gone. I am a canelo hater by the way.

I always said from day one that he will not translate well to Middleweight. So far, so wrong. But we will see.

If Canelo was fighting guys his size he would be at Light-Heavy weight. He has a history since before Matt Hatton of coming in the ring at 180 for a 154 fight. Besides that, he is the biggest superstar in boxing now that many legends have or are about to pack it up this year and retire.

The downside is that Canelo is now on many people's hit list so soon the same people that were just defending certain guys staying at a weight class will start demanding for him to move up more and more. Also this ain't the 90s or early 2000s and Canelo is a big guys physically. He is not as tall as many guys at 160-175, there are a bunch of young fighters at these weights, and they will all want to fight him and he can no longer drag up welters like Dance84 mentioned.

The good news is he has a solid chin and good defense. Time to dump the so called "style" and just stay slick.

El Pollo fights the new chicken style! Just play defense and wait for Oscar's judges, referee and boxing commission to cheat for him................Byrd is his favorite judge......................if El Pollo fights Golovkin in a rematch, he will punch to Golovkin's testicles! Hopkins let the cat out of the bag! Yes, Hopkins indicated that that is their plan! SOB got away with it and so will El Pollo! This is El Pollo's blue print:

Well they were trying to get the top cruiserweights. The moment they would announce Canelo, the rest of the guys would have withdrawn with sketchy injuries.

    Depends on what Canelo wants.

If he wants to maximize his cash then stay with fishnets DLH and all the dodgy manouevering he does to milk his cash cow.

If he wants to build a strong legacy (and still be rich) and look to dominate at middleweight then that's feasible, but not with fishnets who is only interested in the dough.

GGG won't be around for much long (2 years probably) and given the experience Canelo has built up at a young age as well as his natural talent he could build up a fine dominant legacy at middleweight.

Some interesting future mw fights potentially with the Charlos, Andrade etc (I expect Jacobs to move up).

As a fighter I enjoy the guy but as an A side win at all costs I think it taints boxing, how many world titles does he hold or is it just purely about the money and to hell with the history of the sport cause to be sure the very best have always held belts, physical world titles that they dreamed of as a youth?

In fairness he won the 154 lineal title against Trout. And the 160 lineal title against Cotto at both of their preferred 155. Liam Smith was a poor titlist, no doubt, but he picked that belt up legitimately.

His means of being gifted his first title the WBC 154 was as lame as it gets. And that reign was far from dominant and not on par with top titlists. Yet he was a young 20-something then... As for now, well, he very recently has picked up a new belt at 160 and 154 and then went after all the other belts at 160 with Golovkin.

Willingness to fight and titles are not really a route to go if critiquing Canelo.
