He’s a boxer...of course he’s going to have those instincts...he wouldn’t be successful without them... I do agree he isn’t as good as the hype but he is a relative novice despite an impressive CV...
Perhaps the reason it seems he's "single handedly carrying British boxing" is because of the massive hype and marketing machine around him. Your comment does a disservice to all the hard-working boxers who fill boxing shows every week, from grass roots level up, and probably will never see any riches trickle down from the top where the Hearns and AJs are cashing in so nicely.
Why don't the others have all the hype and marketing? Because unfortunately they're not as marketable and that is not AJ's fault. Its not his fault that he's a HW and thats where the money is at. Maybe he's just got his lucky break but for fellow british posters to come on and wish he loses, or gets "exposed" or knocked out is really "un-british". We are known for getting behind our fighters and rightly so. A strange world we live in where the likes of Tyson Fury with all his profanity, anti-semitism and homophobia is the peoples champion, the one that's always hard done by. But hey of course "screw political correctness".
I didn't like his criticism of Whyte basically not being able to put Helenius away, while Joshua was doing the exact same thing. Only difference was, Whytes opponent was much larger than him.
It just underlines how far behind other sports Boxing is in terms of the quality of punditry and analysis. It's difficult to imagine Gary Neville (whatever you think of him) for example making fundamental mistakes on player positions, previous results, competition format/rules etc. Likewise, pundits on cricket, F1, Rugby clearly do their research and regardless of whether you agree with their opinions, they are at least to a reasonable extent based on facts and knowledge. With boxing on Sky, it seems you can just rock up every once in a while and say the first thing that comes into your head, mixed in with some meaningless soundbytes and shameless shilling. Froch for example gives the impression that he doesn't watch much boxing outside of what he is paid to do, and does little background research on fighters. There are exceptions (Malignaggi comes to mind), but this part of the product is generally sub-standard. I suppose it's reasonable to argue that it doesn't really matter, and that it's the fights and fighters that we should be interested in. Little things though can add value to what you're watching, and it's surely not too much to expect given that it is a paid-for broadcast.
Well Adam Smith is the Head of Sky Boxing,so blame him he is the one making the descions when it comes to Commentary Teams and Studio Teams.
Yes,Oluwafemi Olaseni this is what i believe his actual name was.In the Uk and Nigeria, that is where the nickname'Femi' came from.I dont get when he came to England why he didnt just call himself Anthony Joshua like he does now it would have been easier for people to understand.Fishy, they almost seem as if they try to erase his Nigerian roots from Publicity which is very strange, why would they do that? To make the British Public have a better affinity with him
Froch has the enthusiasm of a dying aids patient. Nelson is THE MAN when he is in the studio. He's at his very best there. Bellew is good in small doses. Smith has like 3/4 phrases in his vocabulary.
