    Joshua by British stoppage :deal:.

50/50 fight for me. Povetkin more skilled but his come forward, high pressure style means he'll be right here for Joshua to land bombs on as well. Wouldn't be surprised by any result.

EDIT: Actually, a Povetkin decision would surprise me. He doesn't have the same twitchy head movement as Takam so Joshua will find it easier to land the jab, and any close round will go to Joshua anyway as the A-side.

Povetkin gets him outta there in the latter rounds after Joshua’s Ronnie Coleman gas tank kicks in. Alexander is tough enough to survive the early storm and is skilled enough to counter Anthony with fast accurate shots to hurt him.

I think Povetkin is generally underrated, even though he is rated highly, who knows how he would have done vs Wlad without Klitchsko hugging and cheating

    Povetkin by KO for me

AJ has serious weaknesses, and Povetkin can adjust to styles in a ring unlike AJ who is one dimensional.

This fight never happens though. Hearn knows.

Povetkin completely savages Joshua. Its not even up for debate.

He possesses the inside game, power and work rate to take Joshua out of his rhythm as wellas the chin and durability to get through his early bully boy onslaughts which empty his tank.

There is a very good reason why Joshua has never ever mentioned his name and never will unless he becomes mandatory.

I think that the size and age difference will make this a hard fight for Povetkin. He could win but he's going to have to perform. For me its 50-50 right now.

Eddie Hearn sets up roadblocks of Whyte, Harrison and brings Bruno out of retirement to stand in Povetkin's way so he can "prove" himself worthy of the fight and Povetkin retires instead.

I don't see much that Joshua does that is going to get him the win vs a more mobile superior fighter with similar power. Takam showed the template: feints, step back from Joshua charges, create angles and make him punch down and miss, wear out his tank and land the KO (if you're Povetkin).

Takam and Wlad are the two opponents that are relevant, I suppose. Other than Povekin’s much more impressive knockout, Joshua had the better fights.

Takam was actually in the Povekin fight, winning rounds and pushing forward. Wlad took him to school.

Povekin’s a solid boxer, but if you’re going to use Takam as a stick to beat Joshua with, you might want to reavaluate your blueprint.

Takam is the blueprint. Fight him off the backfoot, make him swing and miss, come in the pocket and confuse him with feints as he can't adapt. It's the same plod plod bang. And his power is overrated, my other big takeaway from Takam.

I can't understand why anyone talks of Povetkin as being a legitimate opponent for the belt holders.

You'd have to have rocks in your head to defend against a Russian athlete with any hint of doping in the recent past. If any of them were to fight him it would have to be out of Russia and there would be stringent testing. This probably results in a pudgy Povetkin that AJ punishes.

I’m surprised. Surely Wlad is the blue print. He’s Joshua’s only opponent that outboxed him in spells, hurt him, and actually made him gas.

Nearly all Joshua’s opponents fight on the back foot. I believe Wlad is the only one that fought on the front foot. Not that I would advice Povetkin to do that, mind.

Wlad did not do his usual stick and move vs Joshua, he was improvising. He lost because he was 41 and had been out the ring way too long. Other than that he'd have got the stoppage.
