How come Deontay Wilder doesn't have commercial endorsements like Canelo, GGG & Joshua?

yet he says he's the face of boxing and all this rah rah talk but yet he doesnt have endorsements from either Dre Beats, Jordan, Under Armour, Tecate, Chivas Regal, etc.

you would think an American heavyweight champ with 97% KO ratio have endorsements like crazy but alas, it seems he has none.

    well?

For the same reason the highest attendance for one of his title defenses is around 12,500. To put how poor those numbers are into perspective; David Haye put 16,000 bums on seats against Mark De Mori with no titles on the line in an absolute con. Then put 16,000 more bums on seats against Gjergjaj three months later pulling the same trick.

Very few people outside of boxing's hardcore fanbase have any idea who Wilder is, so paying him to be the face of your product is basically flushing money down the toilet Broner style.

But don't you know he deserves 50/50?

I think it's usually bad management when this happens. Wilder's manager is Jay Deas.

This is also a question people should ask about Al Haymon. Al's contracts give him control over endorsements, tv and film appearances, etc.. Out of all the premier fighters he manages, how many have endorsements?

he's not a very marketable personality.. sometimes tries too hard to be brash. Doens;t carry himself a certain way that a major company would want.. cant even sell out an arena in Birmingham.

I think he is actually a nice guy underneath the exterior, it's an act for boxing. That said.. if he wants endorsements he needs to act differently. I don't recall marketing agencies chasing Mike Tyson for product endorsements and he was a global superstar, what does that tell you.

AJ has a humble, down-to-earth approach. Almost classy. He also looks the part. Whether that's all an act is another matter, but the fact is he is very appealing to marketeers.

Because he is disgusting, speaks like a middle school drop out and nobody wants him advertising their products. Granted low brow and bombastic can work for some but it does not work for him.

Mike had tons of endorsements pre-prison, and was always somewhere on TV. The press adored him. This was due to the efforts of his management team, Jim Jacobs and Bill Cayton. On Youtube you can see his old commercials for Pepsi, Kodak, a bank, Nintendo, the "Say No to Drugs" campaign, Suntory beer.

In America, there are very few fighters with endorsements that are put in any kind of advertising.

Pacquiao had "Wild Turkey" liquor and pistachio nuts for about a year but they stopped with those commercials right after Marquez KTFO.

Alvarez has his Tecate commercials with Sylvester Stallone going on right now and for the last year or so.

Malignaggi played the main character in that one minute "Punch Out" reboot ad several years back.

Andre Ward was the face on Everlast and/or Adidas internet ads on boxing websites for years, but literally only the ad boxes on boxing sites.

That is literally all. It isn't the Tyson/Leonard days anymore.

    You’ve seen his contract?

I don’t think Haymon nor any of his boxing management has control over endorsements except maybe for boxing products.

He’s been in at least one Corona television ad. He has has a deal with Everlast and appears in their catalogues and such.
