Womens boxing is horrendous, absolutely horrendous. Its just as bad as womens football is compared to mens football. Womens football crowds are the families and lesbian girlfriends of the players. They could only have a women headlining a show if there were good male fights on the card. No all female boxing events have ever turned a profit, just like womens football is subsidised by the mens game. The physical limitations of women are well known, and a womens role is to ruled over by the man, not pretending to be a man. You would not be getting this kind of indulgent gender bending/liberal virtue signalling tosh in a traditional society or an islamic country thats for sure.
Katie Taylor would beat you to a pulp ! Were not in an Islamic country so if you don't like it **** off !
She’s more exciting to watch than mayweather...who is the greatest boxer of our generation... People on this forum have prejudices that predate the dark ages... She’s incredibly talented offensively... A woman’s role jesus ****ing Christ...thank goodness general society isn’t like this...
Cannot argue with that post - spot on and her fight last week had more action than the rest of the card together.
All I want to see is an entertaining fight once in a while, don't care whether the competitors are male or female. Tbh, 95% of mens' boxing is dire at the moment as well. I also enjoy some fights at the lighter weights, which some posters can be very snobbish about too. I definitely think there are still a lot of guys who want to keep women "in their place" though. But ultimately business is business and if it turns out she doesn't sell the tickets, they'll stop putting her on. So don't worry about it. For some reason I now want to sing "Sisters are Doin' it For Themselves" I wouldn't mess with Katie Taylor, Annie Lennox or Aretha Franklin either.
I know it's meant to be light banter and sarcasim, but i think some people need to start showing respect to Mayweather, his numbers, weather that is gate, ppv, net worth is incredible alongside his World class Boxing and i doubt we will see anything like that again. This is a man from a council estate in Michigan, show him some respect for what he has done IN the Ring not OUT which is different.Comparing him to Katie Taylor is Damn right offensive.
Why do people give a **** or get so angry? If you don't like it...don't watch? I personally like Taylor and if she brings more eyes and therefore more money to the sport from a demographic who perhaps weren't interested before- how is it a bad thing?
Exactly- Hearn and Warren are both businessmen through and through, doubt they care much about virtue-signalling! Just ticket/ PPV sales. In fact Warren at least has made some pretty disparaging remarks about female boxing in the years gone by so doubt he has suddenly had a change of heart for emotion (or equality's) sake. Ultimately if the boxers put up competitive exciting fights, they'll get the viewers. If they don't, well back to the Ams (can you still go back to the Ams if you've fought pro? It used to be possible) or retire. For what it's worth I quite like watching both Taylor and Adams- it's unfortunate that there aren't many quality opponents out there for them though. They are certainly no worse skill-wise than most male pros.
Hearn is clearly delighted with Taylor as a) she guarantees a decent Irish audience for Sky and b) is likely on much less money than the majority of his stable.
Very hard to care about Katie Taylor or women's boxing. Not against women's boxing solely, but not sure I like the idea of it. Biggest problem with women's boxing is its lack of history and competition. The Argentine girl she beat to become champ could have been the best women's boxer ever but no one knows or cares! There's a bout 4 women boxers I know and they all fight in different weights, so still no competition. If they want to be seen as the same as men the need to box 12 x 3 minute rounds. Heard something interesting about Taylor on a pod last week. Basically Taylor was a great amateur when there was hardly any decent women amateurs, once more athletic background girls like gymnasts and wrestlers started to box she didn't do very well. Good luck to her but I'll probably be checking twitter during her next fight.
She's actually not even good technically. Comes in head first, throwing right & left hooks one after the other standing square on. Awful defense.
I don't think they want to be seen as "the same" as men (correct me if I'm wrong any female boxers out there), just to have the opportunity to compete in a sport they enjoy without a load of verbal being chucked at them. I expect they would be prepared to compete in 12x3 as well, think that may be to do with the various commissions rather than the competitors themselves (again, correct me if I'm wrong...) But I suspect that's not really the issue for most guys.... Don't really understand all the animosity myself. Something odd I have noticed though, is that you hardly ever hear a male boxer slag off women's boxing. I know Amir Khan did once, but then retracted it after the 2012 Olympics after admitting some of the fights were quality (can't remember his exact words but it was something along those lines). Possibly because they understand all the blood, sweat and tears that go into it, regardless of natural ability, weight or sex? At both gyms I've trained at (am and pro) all the male boxers have been absolutely sound with the women. There are a couple of lasses who train at my gym- both fight Am, both very dedicated and hard working, and actually pretty good. But the usual story, didn't take it up til they were well into their 20s/ 30s so there's a limit to how much you can learn compared to someone who started in childhood. The little one sure has a hell of a punch on her though, she knocked down one of the pros in sparring last time I was there (been off for a while). Maybe a fluke? Who knows. She had wanted to take it up younger, but usual story of family being dead against it. Good luck to Taylor anyway, hope she makes a go of it.
It's just not competitive. She's never been in a fight that she's not been 1/5 to win and most of her fights she's been about 1/20. Not her fault competitive opponents don't exist but regardless of the sport you're not going to get people interested in watching it where all matches at the top level are mismatches.
have no interest in female boxing, the same as i have no interest in male beach volleyball. both make me cringe
