Boxrec is a great site. Great info, stats, history, etc. but their ratings are a joke. They rank Saul Alvarez as the best P4P in the world after clearly being beaten by GGG. What a shame that a great site like this will sell out for a fighter they believe will raise more revenues. They lose credibility in doing this. http://boxrec.com/en/ratings
Boxrec sucks I'll go on there to check a fighter's resume and I always get sent to some amazon Walmart pop up. **** you box rec
In their ranking Canelo scored a draw against GGG. I don't believe this can come as new to anybody any longer, boxrec's rankings are based on a algorithm of official results, not subjective thoughts.
This. Boxrec used to be a very reliable site. Now I have freeze the page and take a screen shot. Boxrec is pretty much a spam site now.
Ffs he's half the size of GGG and took him to a draw, even if you thought he lost he is obviously the better p4p fighter, where do you rate GGG p4p? P4P is an utterly trash concept any way
Their rankings are based on a points system. And Canelo wasn't clearly beat by Golovkin. After I rewatched it, I thought a draw was fair. It was a close fight.
Well it depends on whether your p4p rating is for what they weight at the weigh in or what they actually weigh in the ring. I don't think you can accurately describe Canelo as the smaller man because in the past he was able to cut more weight.
You'd figure the algorithm would put Canelo above GGG. He won a bunch of points by taking the lineal title at 160 and unifying titles at 154.
Sheesh, if you've been paying any attention, Alvarez was P4P #1 on Boxrec before he fought Gennady Golovkin. And certainly nothing that happened on Sept 16th would change that. He arguably beat Golovkin but he certainly didn't lose, so with Gennady rated #3 P4P in their rankings, a draw would naturally keep them where they are in the rankings. I can't say that I know what their methodology is, but the rankings seem fine to me. I'm guessing you disagree with their rankings mainly because Canelo is #1, probably because you're a Canelo hater or you just don't appreciate his skills. It would be far more productive to accept the reality of what happened on September 16th rather than continue live in "Gennady won" fantasyland. Canelo's just that damn good. Deal with it. 118-110, 114-114, 113-115.
Golovkin beat Canelo. However, A 154 lb fighter moving up and and getting a draw/losing a very close decision against the best 160 lb fighter DOES raise your p4p status. Weight divisions exist for a reason and regardless of whether Canelo has the size to compete at Middleweight or not, that was his first fight in the division.
