cuz I can't think of another fight where a rematch was so unwarranted and pointless! Stiverne did not deserve in any way this rematch and not to mention, he didn't even come to win this fight and probably didn't train much in training camp. if u know a worse rematch, I'd like to know.
Adonis/Fonfara. Equally predictable, equally meaningless, perhaps not quite as shameful as Wilder/Stiverne though.
Probably the worst ever title fight.... Martin vs Joshua was more competitive. It’s an embarrassment from the WBC really
No, there is no precedence throughout near on 200 years of boxing history where a more farcical rematch than this shower has ever been made. The WBC, Lou Dibella and Deonkey 'delusional gobshite' Windmiller should hang their ****ing heads in shame. There is nothing about that 'boxing' match that should be celebrated. What's it going to take to get Beoncey to step up his opposition? Killing some ill prepared, poorly conditioned, severely outmatched opponent and the WBC to get dragged into court for sanctioning such ridiculous mismatches? How the **** they could justify Stiverne being the number one contender is just dumb founding.
They were both bad. Neither man came to fight, but I can forgive Martin, since he made $8.5 million and at least had the dignity to stay down and not waste Joshua's time and gave Joshua his props. Stiverne could've stayed down after the second knockdown and admitted Wilder was the better man post fight, but Stiverne had to keep getting up and forced Wilder to knock him out and still had nothing but excuses after the fight.
Marvin Hagler-Vito Antuofermo II (especially considering Vito was floored and cut and got a gift decision against a journeyman in his only fight since losing to Minter)
Liston-Patterson II (Floyd lasted a couple seconds longer, but was dropped three times in the rematch instead of once)
To be fair, Hamsho had defeated Benitez and Czyz and was still a legitimate Top 10 contender at that point. Hagler was coming off two fights against Duran and Roldan where he appeared to struggle at points, so the perception was that he might be starting to slide at that point. So, there was some speculation that Hamsho might be able to improve on his initial showing, even if it seemed awfully unlikely that he would win. Hagler, of course, mutilated Hamsho a second time, but that had more to do with Hagler being pretty great rather than Hamsho's worth as a contender.
The result was a foregone conclusion, but since Antuofermo and Hagler drew the first time out it gave MMH the chance to avenge a blemish on his record against a former champ.
That was about as bad as it gets, i would love the WBC to explain how they came to their decision. And whats worse is once given the shot he really really didnt deserve he didnt take it the least bit serious. Looks like he didnt train and didnt really try in the short fight either. He didnt do anything at any point. The WBC are scum bags, Stiverne is a scum bag.
