One could argue that but doesn't hold much weight when the last guy to get a shot was inactive for 2 years.

Nothing of note doesn't really mean anything in boxing anymore, people get gifted fights all the time.
Wilder can go and make Parker an offer but he won't make as much money as fighting Whyte in the UK. It's not up to Hearn to be paying everyone big money to fight, he isn't promoting them.
It's not really about if Whyte deserves it or if Wilder should have to fight Whyte. It's a big payday for Wilder and the perfect platform to build a bigger profile in the UK.

Exactly what position is Parker in? Because there’s word that Hearn plans to make that fight next.

Does he have to fight Whyte?

It’s an abuse by any promoter of a champion to say “You have to fight my other guy first before you get a shot at my champion.” If it worked that way, GGG would have had to jump through a lot of Golden Boy hoops to have fought Canelo. It’s just plain wrong.

If Whyte is to get a shot at the WBC title, he has to do it on his own merit. His biggest ‘win’ was a disputed decision over Chisora, who lost (yet again) last night and hasn’t beaten anyone of consequence in forever. Oh, and he plodded to a boring win over a guy Duhaupas knocked out.

The bottom line is this: Wilder wants to unify and AJ, or his team, do not. They are the ones putting up obstacles ... Hearn even balked at a straight quid pro quo — Wilder fights Whyte and gets immediate unification shot at AJ, guaranteed by contract, if he wins. So there’s NO reason to take a fight in the Land of Brit Stoppages if there’s no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and instead a real liklihood that Hearn next says, “OK, you beat Whyte, now we’re moving the target and you have to beat this other guy and then, maybe, we’ll talk unification.”

Either AJ wants to hold all the belts or he doesn’t. Either Hearn wants to promote a unified, universal heavyweight champ or he doesn’t. If they want to play, they have to get in the sandbox. Otherwise, they’re the ones who are keeping boxing from having one true heavyweight champ.

Wilder doesn't need to fight Whyte. They could make the AJ fight tomorrow and it would be HUGE in the UK

He should take the fight. Easy money as he would sleep Whyte fairly quickly

    In form Tyson beats both.
Wilder should dispose of Whyte, be a good fight/statement if he could do it quicker than Joshua. None of them have great skill, I like Wilders jabs, his windmill bombs are effective but amateurish when they miss, Eubanks Snr made it look good & had the prowess to look cool when he missed. Having said that if he catches most HW they will crumble, I have a sneaking suspicion that Whyte is more durable than AJ but has no boxing technique...about the same level a Wilder. To be fair & balanced ,at this point Joshua has more moves but like Old Bruno does appear a bit wooden whereas Wilder can move pretty good. Its a 50/50 IMO between Wilder & Joshua ,its just the utter garbage & nonsense that comes out of Wilders mouth, its childish.

Breazeale will get Wilder next if Wilder doesn't get AJ.

On a side note I think Whyte v Breazeale would be a decent scrap.

Only Wilder or Whyte fans want this fight.

Everyone else wants the Joshua fight.

Well if he can't get AJ next then why not pocket 4 mil $ against a bum?

Because Hearn/AJ don’t get to tell the other beltholders what they have to do.

If Canelo had tried to dicatate that GGG fight this guy or that guy first, would anyone have been calling for GGG to meet those terms?

If he can’t get AJ next, it’s on AJ and Hearn. By not jumping when they tell him to, it exposes their ducking.

Wilder and his team said they’ll fight Whyte if Hearn will put it in the contract that Wilder gets AJ next if he wins. And Hearn blinked, which shows he has no intention of making a Wilder-AJ fight regardless of whether Wilder fights Whyte or not.

Forget AJ for a second, you asked why should Wilder fight Whyte.
I gave you a reason, 4 mil $ for an easy fight.
That's his best option right now.
Or fight Breazeale at Barclay's for 1.4 mil.

The only reason I can think of Wilder not doing this is because Al wants to build his brand in the USA.

Regardless of what we all think Wilder is definitely gaining traction with the boxing community and casual fans. Wilder is already seen as AJs biggest threat, maybe Al wants to keep him ticking over in front of US eyes.

If Wilder fights AJ in the UK its just as big even if he doesn't fight Whyte IMO.

In saying all of this I think he should just fight Whyte, easy money.
