What type of credit would Joshua get for beating Wilder?

Essentially Wilder has struggled more than once vs. tier two title opponents, none of which were ranked in the top ten as challengers when he fought them for his WBC title. These opponents were top 20-40ish Box rec ranked guys. His last opponent was old/fat/lazy and had minimal effort. They type younger prospects on their way up feast upon, Stiverne was only there for the paycheck. You hate to call a fighter a bum, but when he acts like one...

Essentially Wilder is acting like one of that heavyweight who fought nobody trying to sneak his way into a title match. The trouble is he's one of the champions and is selecting guys who have already been proven as not worthy as for his title matches. This has become an embarrassment to boxing.

I see three paths for Joshua to get credit.

1 ) If they meet next, Joshua will need to quickly end it to get credit without losing more than one round.

2 ) Joshua can hope Wilder actually defends his WBC Burger King Belt vs someone ranked in the top ten, this way at least he would have beaten somebody, enhancing the value of the win.

3 ) The third path for Joshua to get credit would be to beat Wilder, and see Wilder go on to defeat other ranked opponents. That one seems very unlikely to me.

    Thoughts?

He would get props from some Americans who thought Wilder was an ATG. But really I think he may be Joshuas 3rd or 4th best win. I'd have him vs Takam or Whyte as 50/50.

Basically fighting Wilder will only deliver him a big payday and another strap. A good addition to his resume to boot.

But realistically I can understand why they are reluctant facing Wilder, who they don't need, but can beat him with a right hand windmill at any stage of the fight.

I know there are many on here that just out and out hate Wilder they dont rate him as a champion etc... But i would say the majority of his critics like myself are people frustrated by a so called champion that has yet to prove himself.

He was been pro for 9 years, a world champion for nearly 3 and he is exactly where he was 3 years ago. Yet, he talks like he has fought elite level boxers for the last 3 years. You just need to look at the facts to see why people are critical of him and his record.

However, the more sensible of us we still consider him top 2 or 3 right now... so if AJ were to beat him he would get the credit for unifying the titles again and beating a rival for best in the division simple as that.

    None

Joshua - he has the mayweather affect to a point. the opponent is worthy and the only real possibility to joshua losing. When AJ beats them, "i didnt really rate them anyway" will be the response

He would get a lot of credit.

Wilder would be his second best win, so far. There is also a small number of people who think Wilder will win this fight, so he will get credit from them also.

This fight is going to make Joshua look like a dominant unbeatable fighter.

Not much because I view Wilder like Chris John, but a step below.

He can beat some good fighters, but his record is vastly overrated and he doesn't really have a notable win. At least Chris John beat some names. Wilder's best win is Stiverne or Arreola. Those guys are B- level guys.

People are talking as if he could definately beat Wilder, it is a heavyweight fight, anything can happen, Joshua is chinny without a doubt, if wilder cracked a good one flush on his chin and wobbles him, would he finish it, possibly,he has the speed to follow up.

Personally i don't think it is a foregone conclusion.
