Wake me up when Anthony Joshua draws more fans than Wilder in the U.S. Right NOW, Wilder is doubling, tripling and even quadrupling his viewership numbers.

Wilder-Washington drew THREE TIMES as many viewers as Joshua-Wlad in the U.S.

Let that sink in.

 

Apples and orange. Wake me up when Wilder makes more than $2mil.... Or draws more than 12k attendance. Bearing in mind the US has 5x the population of the UK.

 

Joshua hasen't even broken the US market yet and he commands a fight fee 1000% more than Wilder, let that sink in. You do know America is not that important as it used to be in the world of boxing don't you?

 

Mayweather and Canelo do PPVs in the U.S. That's about it. Boxing isn't a mainstream sport here. And PPVs here are far more than they are in the UK. Like $75 a pop. $100 for Mayweather's last few.

Of course he has. Joshua's fights have been aired live here for the past two years.

And it's funny. In one breath, people say the U.S. market doesn't matter. In the next, they say Wilder and Joshua can't fight until Joshua breaks into the U.S. market, and it's Hearn's goal to make Joshua a U.S. star.

That won't happen in the UK. People are living on the bread line as is. Sky costs £60/70 per month with sports and then they ask for more with boxing..they've been criticised just for making ppvs.

 

Hearn wants to make Joshua a global star, America is just one country in his plans. It used to be a lucrative market, its not now is it. Its still a decent market to break to add to Joshua's monetary growth. AJ and Hearn DON'T need to break America, they're doing fine all over the world. I mean a KO artist who is American HW champion of the world can't even become a PPV star in the states.

 

Correct. Hearn has stated that he wants Africa, Asia and US. AJ is on the verge of being Global whereas Wilder is barely a star inside of his own State.

 

There would be uproar if Sky started charging £70+ for PPV's, and I'm sure it'll even be brought up in parliament from the backlash. That's the difference from the US fans to the UK ones. We don't get ripped off, and refuse to pay over the odds for shite.
